Job Description :


We are seeking a motivated and security-conscious individual to join our team and play a key role in securing our application landscape. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining system security plans (SSPs) in accordance with industry standards, ensuring our applications comply with security regulations.

Responsibilities :

- Develop and maintain SSPs for new and existing applications, adhering to Secure Application Development Life Cycle (SADLC) and Michigan Security Accreditation Process (MiSAP) methodologies.

- Monitor Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) and Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) related to SSPs, collaborating with the MDOT Enterprise Information Management (EIM) office.

- Validate SSPs to ensure alignment with NIST security control requirements.

- Analyze security findings and recommend improvements to the organization's overall security posture, aligned with SOM PSP and NIST controls.

- Assist team members and vendors in collecting necessary artifacts for security assessments.

Requirements :

- 1 year of experience in IT security, applying relevant principles and practices.

- 1 year of experience reviewing IT systems/applications, with basic knowledge of networking components and various operating systems.

- Experience analyzing NIST Special Publications 800-37 Rev 1, 800-53 Rev 3,4, or 5, and 800-53A Rev 1.

- Familiarity with additional security frameworks (ISO, COBIT, HIPAA/HITECH) and regulatory requirements (a plus).


- Possession of security certifications like CISSP, CISA, PMP, or Security+ is desirable.

- Experience collaborating with software vendors to implement security controls is a plus.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

- Ability to thrive in a team environment while working independently on multiple projects.

- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage shifting priorities and adapt to changes effectively.
