Job Description:

What You Will Deliver

The Pipelines team comprises highly skilled pipeline engineering professionals who work globally supporting bp's operations in Indonesia, Oman, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Egypt, Mauritania, Senegal, UK, Trinidad, and the Gulf of Mexico. Every drop of oil, water, condensate, and gas produced by bp flows through a pipeline maintained by this team.

The main responsibility of this role is to act as a pipeline engineer based in the TSI hub in Pune, India.

Multiple roles are available. Successful candidates will undertake various responsibilities, including:

  • Regional Pipeline Field Support: Assist in the execution and evaluation of subsea inspection campaigns and determining repair needs.
  • Subsea & Pipeline Integrity Management support: Collaborate with engineers in the regions to oversee subsea and pipeline integrity data management using our NEXUS-IC database, the Anomaly Assessment & Tracking system, and Inspection Data loading.
  • Subsea & Pipeline Geospatial, Documentation & Performance Management support: Work closely with engineers in the regions to handle inspection and engineering data in the GIS (PODS), enhance document accessibility in the Electronic Document Management System, and create and maintain Power BI dashboards.

General Responsibilities for Pipeline Engineers:

  • Tasks include risk assessment, integrity management plan development, maintenance, inspection, repair execution engineering support, anomaly assessment, and collaboration with major projects.
  • Provide timely updates to Inspection Data Specialist on inspection and repair scopes, ensuring data accuracy, timely implementation of engineered solutions, and documentation.
  • Lead and engage in pipeline integrity and enhancement activities globally.
  • Offer pipeline engineering expertise as the Equipment Owner for pipeline-related equipment and System Owner for assigned transportation systems by Region.
  • Act as the regional/global pipeline Domain Expert as designated by the Pipeline Field Lead to support all regions in specific areas of expertise upon request.
  • Collaborate with related fields to ensure proper equipment care, including maintenance, engineering, corrosion control, flow assurance, production chemistry, pressure systems integrity, process safety, and structural & civil engineering.
  • Identify pragmatic solutions to manage risk, enhance production efficiency, eliminate defects, and standardize processes to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations.
  • Maintain documents and data for assigned equipment.
  • Manage risk assessment for assigned equipment, ensuring identified threats align with current operations, and utilize this to define, implement, and support the execution of Equipment Strategies by the relevant Execution Owner. Identify anomalies, initiate necessary actions, and ensure closure.
  • Prepare, review, and approve pipeline-related metrics (e.g., barrier health, pipeline integrity dashboard, and LOPC data) and take appropriate actions when needed.
  • Provide pipeline support for incident investigations and the learning process.
  • Technically manage subsea contractors (e.g., subsea engineering contractors).

What You Will Need to Succeed

Must-Have Education/Certifications:

  • MSc or MEng preferred, with BEng, BSc, or equivalent experience as a minimum requirement, or an international equivalent in a relevant engineering Discipline.
  • Professional accreditation, such as Professional Engineer.

Must-Have Experience/Skills (Required):

  • Technical expertise in various areas related to Operations, including risk assessment, risk-based inspection, pipeline engineering assessments, fitness for service, failure investigation, pipeline inspection and monitoring, corrosion control, pipeline repair, and pipeline geospatial data management.
  • Demonstrated ability in the practical application of engineering standards and practices for pipeline engineering.
  • People management skills, with the ability to network and influence across organizational boundaries.

Good-to-Have Experiences/Skills (Can Be Developed/Trained):

  • Support the development and maintenance of digital tools to advance continuous improvement in global pipeline support (data collection and analysis, equipment dashboards, risk analysis tools, database management, data visualization).
  • Experience or familiarity with data visualization software such as PowerBI. Citizen developer with knowledge of Python, SQ.

Travel Requirement

Expect up to 10% travel with this role.
