Job description
The simulator is a distributed hardware and software real-time system. One of the software components of the simulator is the "TrainModel".

The TrainModel mimics the behaviour of the actual trains and provides outputs like train acceleration, velocity, position and various other parameters needed to re-create realistic train behavior in the simulator.

The TrainModel thus involves modelling various aspects like train dynamics, pneumatic and electro-pneumatic braking systems, onboard equipment, traction motors and drives, electrical systems and onboard computer systems.

The modellers are involved in all phases of development of the TrainModel. This includes design, development, unit testing, integrated testing and support.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake activities related to the design and development of functional simulation models as part of a project team.
  • Interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics as well as functional specifications.
  • Be a technical expert in train modeling, ensure timely delivery of individual assignments, effective utilization of time on individual assignment and team management, be a mentor, coach, & a friend to other team member, provide improvement ideas and opportunities.
  • Set clear self (in consultation with supervisor) goals and KPIs
  • Monitor selfperformance on productivity, quality, compliance to process & standards is important
  • Support a healthy and motivating work environment and atmosphere, work with the team effectively
  • Listen to team members' feedback and resolve any issues or conflicts
  • Implements business initiatives including prompt corrective action plans for areas with below threshold performance
  • Ensure efficient and economical performance in accordance with operating budgets, yearend goals and objectives
  • Review analysis of performance including financial and productivity data for area and makes the appropriate changes in strategies, goals, and objectives responding to current status and conditions
  • Provide informal feedback on an ongoing basis and formal feedback in the annual performance evaluation process to identify and develop talent
  • Manage work assignments, productivity & quality, and process compliance in line with Sydac goals, processes, and guidelines.
  • Adhere to all policies procedures and work instructions within the discipline of Sydac Quality expectations
  • Working in close collaboration with the Team in Adelaide and with modeling lead, participate in regular discussions, ensure constant & consistent collaboration, and provide constant updates of the ground situation in Pune

Profile

REQUIREMENTS

Skills:

  • Experience in using dataflow languages such as Matlab/Simulink
  • Hands on experience of modelling electromechanical systems
  • Understanding of key concepts in control theory; discrete systems, feedback, stability, state space
  • Understanding of the principles of Newtonian physics
  • A working understanding of train system functions and operation, including braking, traction, coupling, computer based control, access/egress systems.
  • Experience analyzing requirements and developing designs that meet requirements
  • Knowledge of software design principles, including the use of UML
  • Ability to understand technical manuals and drawings
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to diagnose and debug software problems
  • Understanding of C++ programming language desirable
  • Experience with databases, SQL, data gathering and CAD skills desirable
  • Experience with configuration management and defect tracking tools
