Core Purpose of the Role:

Subject expert in protein purification – in depth knowledge and hands on experience in different affinity chromatography (Ni-NTA, ProtA, ProtG, etc), Ion Exchange chromatography, HIC, SEC. Able to set-up/modify purification protocols using knowledge and experience. Able to troubleshoot purification related challenges faced by self or team members. Strong experience in running AKTAs (pure, go, primeplus). Protein purification optimization and protocol development using AKTA systems as well as batch purification method Expert knowledge in protein biochemistry and buffers Manage multiple projects simultaneously under strict deadlines Regularly prepare detailed records of experiments, reports and presentations Ability to understand and analyse data with a keen eye for details. Communication of data in a proper format to the teams and to the client if required Able to lead a team of scientist – reviewing data, work assignment, resource utilization Supervise team members in their work, troubleshooting and analyzing data Train junior team members or new joiners on AKTA and protein purification techniques Ability to manage work, plan ahead and keep a track of consumables and reagents needed for experiments Independently perform protein purification and quality check (SDS-PAGE, SE-HPLC) Any other responsibility assigned by the reporting manager besides those mentioned above

Required Qualifications:

PhD in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biotechnology or any other relevant Biological Sciences) with 3 to 6 years of relevant experience in biotech, pharma or academia Excellent theoretical knowledge of proteins, biochemistry and protein purification. Proven hands-on experience and technical expertise in conducting protein purification experiments with AKTA platform. Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel and coordination of internal and external resources is essential. Strong organizational, detail-orientation, prioritization and multi-tasking skills Ability to manage a team of scientist while handling own projects Attention to detail, strong analytical skills and ability to work under strict timelines Ability to properly document results and observations in timely manner, make presentations. Personal attributes – organized, motivated, cooperative, friendly, respectful and communicative.

Desirable Qualifications

Knowledge and experience of protein labelling techniques, affinity measurement techniques (SPR, ITC, MST) Knowledge and experience in analytical techniques – mass spectrometry, SE-HPLC.

Behavioral / Managerial skills

Demonstrated capabilities in leading a team and working in a matrix environment. Ability to rationally discuss data make data-driven decisions, and influence decisions to select optimal molecules for development. Ability to work in collaboration with a large inter-disciplinary team and assimilate data from various aspects. Excellent communication and presentation skills Experience managing multiple complex projects simultaneously requiring frequent communication, organizing/time management, and problem-solving skills Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration, analytical, and scientific project management skills Ability to work with senior management with professionalism and discretion
