Function Description

The B35 for Monitoring Transformation team will act as the First Line of Defense (FLoD) focusing on enabling business growth while maintaining a robust control environment. They serve as a Center of Excellence (CoE) within the business, overseeing the identification, quantification, monitoring, and management of Operational Risks. This operational risk involves challenges to current or future business objectives due to internal process failures, human errors, or external events.

In alignment with Amex's risk management approach, the FLoD Control Management team collaborates with the Second and Third Lines of Defense to ensure effective implementation of risk management framework requirements.

Job Requirements

  • The Manager: Control Management USCS plays a crucial role in expanding an automated control testing program.
  • Responsibilities include enhancing controls for key risks, governing algorithm development, managing RBST reporting, conducting exceptions research, and collaborating with various stakeholders for process improvement and regulatory compliance.

Key activities for the role will include:

  • Reviewing processes to identify control gaps for regulatory reporting.
  • Ensuring compliance with reporting guidelines for RBST reporting.
  • Analyzing data for testing.
  • Implementing operational controls as per guidelines and conducting periodic testing.
  • Leading automation initiatives and machine learning algorithm development.
  • Assessing KRI execution efficiency.
  • Emphasizing thought leadership and supporting work/life balance initiatives.
  • Mentoring team members and delivering insights to business partners.

Qualifications:

  • Expertise in regulatory reporting, data structures, and BI tools.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise-level BI tools and collaboration platforms.
  • Knowledge of financial analytics, data controls, and SQL queries.
  • Postgraduate degree in relevant fields preferred.

Key skills needed

  • Problem-solving in complex environments.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
