As R&D enters a new era of data driven science, we are building a data engineering capability to ensure we have high quality data captured with context and aligned data models, so that the data is useable and reusable for a variety of use cases.


GSK R&D and Digital and Tech's collective goal is to deliver business impact, including the acceleration of the discovery and development of medicines and vaccines to patients.

The R&D Digital and Tech remit has expanded over the past 2 years, and to position GSK for the future, The change will strengthen R&D Tech, to provide more strategic impact, focus, accountability, and improved decision making in the use of Digital, Data and Analytics (DDA) to strengthen the pipeline.


The Senior Product Owner is accountable for designing and delivering the roadmap that will improve the user experience for the product within their domain and support the strategic priorities.

Each Product Owner will work collaboratively with stakeholders to agree on priorities within their domain and build plans to deliver against those priorities.

These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Full Study Outsourcing data exchange in realtime e.g., IQVIA, Syneos, PPD and PXL
  • Functional Service Provider data exchange and remote access strategy e.g., Syneos and TCS
  • Sponsor organizations' data exchange where GSK is collaborating on Clinical Research
  • Other 3rd parties that deliver data to GSK e.g., laboratories, Imaging vendors, ePRO vendors
  • Data virtualization through the Data Fabric


The systems used to enable these exchanges of information are some enterprise tools (e.g., Secure Team sites etc.), RD Tech tools (e.g., EAP and sFTP etc.) and specific systems aligned to other Tech POs (e.g., Veeva eDC etc).

The Product Owner will support R&D Tech external data acquisition activities from the small data object level up to large scale data transfer and has the opportunity to shape GSK's strategy as we look to expand the ingestion of external data across the clinical space.

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 7 years relevant experience in Service Management or Business Analysis in major global Tech organization.
  • Experience in software design and delivery (both analytical and technical).

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Scientific bachelor's degree or higher Degree
  • Demonstrated experience in working in an IT product related industry, with experience in IT software analysis, design or delivery.
  • Good experience in relationship management, influencing and communication skills.
  • Content knowledge of respective functional area (business operating models, processes & products).
  • Knowledge and assessment of emerging trends (both functional and technical) within domain.
