We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Controls Engineer to join our team in Addison, TX. This role requires demonstrated technical proficiency in implementing automation solutions with PLC, HMI, SCADA, and DCS/Delta V platforms. You will interact directly with customers and lead a team of engineers to deliver innovative automation solutions.
- Automation Solutions: Deliver innovative automation solutions and design standards independently or as part of a team.
- System Design: Conceptualize, detail, and implement control systems for industrial processes and machinery, meeting customer requirements.
- Control System Architecture: Develop control system architecture, select components, detail schematic diagrams, and create system documentation.
- Programming: Program controllers (PLC, DCS/Delta V) and process visualization (HMI/SCADA), develop databases for historical system data, and implement control systems at client facilities.
- Networking: Design, detail, and implement fiber, wired, and wireless systems using industrial protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus).
- Project Management: Develop project execution plans, budgets, schedules, and track project progress. Manage daily operations of projects up to $10M.
- Team Leadership: Act as the technical lead on projects, guide lower-level engineers and technicians, and mentor less experienced engineers.
- Client Interaction: Maintain strong communication with clients to understand requirements and provide solutions.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in industrial automation.
- In-depth understanding of Emerson DeltaV platform and PLC-5 to ControlLogix conversions.
- Proficiency in PLC hardware/software platforms (Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Modicon).
- Expertise in HMI/SCADA platforms (Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk, Aveva System Platform, Inductive Automation Ignition, GE iFIX, Siemens Winn CC, TI Portal).
- Understanding of DCS platforms (Emerson DeltaV or similar).
- Experience with Batch/Recipes, OEE, MES, and ERP systems.
- Design of electrical schematics and control panels, including power distribution under 480VAC and associated NEC references.
- Project management experience (PMP certification preferred).
- Experience with AutoCAD preferred.
- Industry experience in Semiconductor, Life Sciences, Building Automation, Food and Beverage, Water Treatment, and general manufacturing.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in industrial automation.
- Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication, and leadership skills.
- Travel: Ability to travel up to 25%, mostly local to the Dallas Metroplex.
- Physical Demands: Seeing, color perception, hearing, clear speech, dexterity in hands, driving, lifting, ability to mount/dismount equipment, pushing, and pulling.
- Work Environment: Standard office environment, on-site industrial environments, frequent use of a personal computer, and other office equipment.
