Automation Function

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sr. Automation Engineer to join our team. The Sr. Automation Engineer will be responsible for automating business processes, day to day operations activities, SOPs, reporting, cloud and on-premise provisioning, installations etc. for customers and DI internal. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of Automation tools, DevOps stack, Shell scripting, Java, Python, PowerShell, JSON, YAML, Terraform, Operating Systems, Logical Thinking, Ansible, REST APIs.

Position Summary: Sr Automation Engineer requires the ability to:

Reporting into the Technical Director of CoE Automation Technically guide the Automation team members in line with DI's standards Come up with technical blueprints & its execution in automation Creation of Tactical and Strategic roadmaps, Tactical being providing demonstrable quick wins, Strategic being providing the short/med/long term goals regarding DI's future automation functions. Work closely with internal DI teams to understand the requirements of the DI teams and communicate the proposed solution(s) Evaluate different automation platforms, solutions, coding languages and come up with the best suitable approaches for given situation from implementation, robustness and future support perspective

Responsibilities:

Define DI automation model – how automation team should be structured, defined and operated Develop automations as per latest industry standards involving end to end design of build, code, deploy, support and retire phases Develop and implement automations in languages like Shell scripting, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, PowerShell, Python etc. Good knowledge on cloud and on-premise infrastructures like databases, operating systems, networking, storage, monitoring solutions for example Nagios, Logic Monitor etc. Must be a good team player and individual contributor with good oral and written communication skills Certifications in Cloud, database, networking, storage technologies will be a plus, although not a requirement Logical & critical thinking, solution designing, skill to identify manual & repeatable activities to automate, prioritise tasks, measure efficiency of an automation, Maintain awareness of new products coming to market that could be used by Data Intensity as part of the automation engineering. Previous experience on Databases, RDBMS, Operating Systems, Networking, Storage ow working in Managed Service Provider (MSP) will be a plus point Experience on ServiceNow integrations will be a plus point Measure efficiency of an automation system, identify gaps or potential bugs, inefficiencies and rectify them proactively Collaborate with broader automation engineering team and work individually and as team player effectively Knowledge on integrations, third party products will be a plus point

This job description emphasizes the role of Sr. Automation Engineer who will be creating automation solutions blueprints and implement them on enterprise scale using cutting edge DevOps stack, Ansible, Chef/Puppet, Shell/PoweShell scripts etc. Sr. Automation Engineer will be reporting to Manager of Automation Engineering. The successful candidate will work closely with other teams to identify areas where automation can help improve processes and ensure that the automation is integrated with other IT management systems. The Sr. Automation Engineer will also be responsible for migrating legacy automation code to newer platforms of automation while learning and supporting existing automations with troubleshooting, improving, adding new features and functionalities, creating documentation etc. Overall, this is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Sr. Automation Engineer to play a critical role in reducing cost to company for manual work and improving operational efficiency of the company.

Travel

This position has little travel. Under 5% with a target of zero travel.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. 5+ years of DevOps and automation related experience Experience working with Linux and Windows operating systems. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and leading individual projects. Experience developing with one or more of the following languages: Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Shell/Bash, IaC Tools (Terraform / CloudFormation), Dashboarding Understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery methodologies Must be able to multi-task, manage details and keep sight of overall objectives Ability to think and operate as a team player Good analytical and problem-solving skill Understanding of design, development, and deployment of microservices. Familiarity with version control (e.g. GitHub, Bitbucket)

Experience:

Strong practical understanding of monitoring solutions in a multi tenanted environment Managed Service Provider experience and understanding of the challenges that this environment brings The role requires strong problem solving, tactical and strategic thinking skills to enable to meet company and project objectives. The candidate must demonstrate excellent leadership and teamwork capabilities, as well as effective organizational skills and the initiative to prioritize workloads. Minimum 5-7 years' experience in a similar role;

This role may require access to customer environments as a means of providing the necessary support to resolve an issue or inquiries into performance-related issues, or for periodic maintenance and management of the systems. In some instances, these environments may contain Personally Identifiable Information (PII) (e.g., such as HIPAA-related Personal Health Information – PHI) and Payment Card Information (PCI). Personnel are expected to adhere to the highest standards of ethics and professionalism in protecting PII.

Periodic background checks may be required as a result of customer contractual commitments by Data Intensity.
