About the Role:
The Cyber Security Specialist will be a key member of the Cyber Resilience Programme (CRP) within the Defence sector.

This role involves providing expert guidance and support in the implementation of Secure by Design principles, enhancing cyber security governance, and improving risk management processes across Defence programs and projects.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Cyber Security Assurance:o
Provide expert advice on Secure by Design principles and their implementation within Defence projects.

o

Conduct cyber security assessments and audits to ensure compliance with MOD policies and standards.

o

Develop and maintain security documentation, including risk assessments, security plans, and accreditation documents.

  • Risk Management:o
Identify, evaluate, and mitigate cyber security risks across Defence projects.

o

Implement and monitor security controls to protect Defence systems and data.

o

Work with project teams to integrate security into all stages of the project lifecycle.

  • Security Governance:o
Support the development and enhancement of cyber security governance frameworks.

o

Ensure clear accountability and ownership of cyber security risks within Defence projects.

o

Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and enforce security policies and procedures.

  • Incident Response and Management:o
Assist in the development and execution of incident response plans.

o

Investigate security incidents and breaches, and provide recommendations for remediation.

o

Conduct post-incident analysis to identify root causes and prevent future occurrences.

  • Training and Awareness:o
Develop and deliver cyber security training and awareness programs for Defence personnel.

o

Stay up-to-date with the latest cyber security threats, trends, and technologies.

o

Provide guidance and mentorship to project teams on best practices in cyber security.

Required Skills and Experience· Cyber Security Expertise:
o

Minimum of 3+ years of experience in cyber security roles, preferably within the Defence or public sector.

o

In-depth knowledge of cyber security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO

o

Experience with security assessment tools and techniques.

  • Secure by Design:
o

Proven experience in implementing Secure by Design principles in large-scale projects.

o

Understanding of cyber assurance processes and risk management methodologies.

  • Technical Proficiency:
o

Strong technical skills in areas such as network security, application security, and security architecture.

o

Experience with security technologies and tools (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM).

  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
o

Ability to analyze complex security issues and develop effective solutions.

o

Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.

  • Qualifications:o
Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH) are highly desirable.

o

A degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Technology) is preferred.

Nice-to-Have Skills and Experience· Experience with MOD cyber assurance processes.

  • Familiarity with Defence security policies and procedures.
  • Experience in agile project delivery within Defence organizations.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Security Clearance·SC Clearance is mandatory.

Candidates must have a current and valid Security Clearance to be eligible for this role.
