Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to ensure monthly estimation, billing and actualization of revenue, purchases and related cost are accurately accounted in the Energy Component/SAP-FICO through 'first time right'. Ensure financial information is appropriately communicated within the organization (regulatory, commercial, and legal as applicable).

The role offers the incumbent an opportunity to build a strong understanding of the Canada Upstream revenue and how these impacts the end-to-end Commercial to Finance process. This role should also have an involvement on supporting projects outside of Canada Revenue Accounting team and aspiring to have digitalization skills.

Position description – Accountabilities.

  • Responsible to ensure the Monthly Estimation of sales, purchases and inventory are recorded in the books accurately.
  • Calculate the sales and purchase price as per the contract and ensure all the prices matches with Joint venture partner's price
  • Preparation of month end reports for stakeholders and Joint venture partners
  • Possess in-depth knowledge on the Blackline process and ability to review and action on the open balances in Accounts Receivable/Accounts payable with detailed commentary and taking appropriate action to clear them
  • Responsible to actualize the sales and purchases in the books accurately
  • Intercompany reconciliation
  • Monitor the effectiveness of financial controls in line with the Group's methodology to diagnose ineffective financial controls and assess their potential impact, develop, and implement remediation
  • Handle audits queries - Shell Internal Audit, JV Audit, External auditors by interacting directly with auditors & partners.
  • Assist with CI projects / support to projects within the Revenue Accounting Team, as necessary

  • Support for Upstream Revenue accounting team, System implementation changes, Digitalization support which upskills the staff and enhances their competency.
  • Gathers data, analyses and reports findings. Gathers data using existing formats and will suggest changes to these formats.
  • Resolves disputes and acts as an SME, first escalation level.
  • Conducts analyses to solve repetitive or patterned information and data queries/problems.
  • Works within a variety of well-defined procedures and practices.
  • Supervised on progress and results; informs management about analysis outcomes.
  • Works autonomously within this scope, with regular steer required e.g. on project scope and prioritisation.
  • May coach less experienced colleagues.
  • Supports stakeholders in understanding analyses / outcomes and using them on topic related to own areas of expertise.
  • Interaction with others demands influencing and persuasion in a tactful manner to explain and advise on performed analyses of information.

  • Skills and Requirements:

  • Managing CI initiatives in coordination with Continuous Improvement Manager.
  • The staff must also be able to troubleshoot most problems or issues that arise, with only limited assistance from the Process Owner, Team Lead or Systems support personnel.
  • Able to troubleshoot problems or issues and know when to escalate to the Team Lead

Experience and Qualifications required:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Upstream experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work both independently and in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to focus on big picture and yet able to dive into details. Also required to have excellent problem resolution skills, strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others through effective communications and the ability to understand the end-to-end business processes.
  • Ability to self-start and direct own efforts based on high-level business objectives and guidance as necessary.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, strong delivery focus and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Effective time management/ organizational skills and able to independently set priorities
