Cyber Security Third Party Governance Technical Analyst
BNYM is seeking a proactive professional to join its Cyber Security Third Party Governance (CTPG) team. The successful candidate will work in a diverse and dynamic environment with a team of Cyber Security professionals responsible for assessing, analyzing, and governing cyber security for third-party vendors. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical and assessment skills to identify vendor cyber vulnerabilities that may pose a risk to BNYM.
The individual will collaborate closely with the Cyber TPG Security Leader, Business Sourcing Leads (BSL), enterprise sourcing, technology risk management, engagement managers, business teams, and vendors to address identified cyber risks in vendor environments. Effective oral and written communication skills, as well as negotiation abilities, are essential. Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information and exercising discretion are key responsibilities.
Key Roles & Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Assess the cyber security risk of third-party vendors with appropriate detail
- Conduct on-site assessments by traveling to vendor locations
- Engage with various internal teams and stakeholders on vendor cyber security issues
- Review and validate vendor evidence to resolve issues
- Contribute to designing and implementing Cyber TPG processes and tools
- Create relevant metrics, presentations, and reports
- Evaluate cyber-related attestations from third parties like SOC2 and ISO 27001
- Scrutinize vendor risk reports from internal and external sources for cyber security implications
- Stay updated on evolving trends, methodologies, and tools in third-party cyber security
- Collaborate with industry coalitions addressing third-party cybersecurity concerns
Qualifications:
- Required: Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Preferred: Advanced degree. Industry certifications like CISSP or CISM are advantageous
- 4-6 years of experience in cyber security activities
- Hands-on experience in conducting technical cyber risk assessments at the control level
- In-depth technical expertise in 1-2 cyber domains
- Industry experience in securities or financial services is a bonus
- Strong proficiency in third-party governance and associated tools is a plus
- Capacity to oversee multiple projects and priorities
- Familiarity with global regulations and industry standards pertaining to cyber security
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
