Role: Network Subject Matter Expert - Infinera 7100 Platform

Job Description:

We are currently looking for a skilled professional familiar with the Infinera 7100 platform. If you have the expertise we need, we'd like to hear from you.

Experience in Level3 support or Development/testing field is applicable for this role.

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications:

  • Escalation Management
  • Handle Escalations: Act as the primary point of contact for escalated issues concerning the Infinera 7100 platform that require advanced resolution beyond the capabilities of other teams.
  • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex network incidents efficiently, sometimes requiring support after regular hours.
  • Collaboration: Engage closely with various support tiers, such as Level 1 and Level 2 engineers, and collaborate with the Engineering team to ensure effective problem-solving.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Conduct thorough investigations to identify underlying causes of recurring issues and implement preventive measures.
Technical Expertise:

  • Network Troubleshooting: Utilize your extensive knowledge of DWDM technology and its application on the Infinera 7100 platform to troubleshoot and resolve intricate network challenges.
  • Hardware and Software: Address hardware issues related to the 7100 platform (Nano subrack, line system modules, transponders) and software components such as TNMS and Craft Station.
  • System Availability: Monitor and ensure high network availability.
Collaborate with Northbound systems for 7100 system and service storage and reporting Skills:


Minimum 3 years of Level 4 Support experience with the Infinera 7100 DWDM platform, covering software and hardware aspects (e.g., Nano subrack, system controller modules, optical line modules, transponders).

Demonstrated proficiency in resolving 7100 platform issues through TNMS (Transend Network Management System).

  • Excellent analytical abilities for performance and issue analysis.
  • Willingness to work during Melbourne business hours daily to handle urgent escalations from other Telstra teams.
  • Ability to visit Melbourne-based lab for reproducing and troubleshooting complex issues that require onsite resolution.
  • Thorough understanding of DWDM and OTN technology applications and services.
  • Skill in coordinating incident resolution tasks.
  • Specialized in resolving escalated technical issues with Telstra's extensively used Infinera 7100 DWDM platform.
  • Ensure smooth operations, tackle complex problems, and deliver top-notch customer support.
  • Process Enhancements: Lead improvements in processes across various teams (Engineering, Operations, etc.) based on insights gained from escalated cases.
  • Documenting Solutions and Effective Communication.
Highly Desirable (Not mandatory):

  • Experience working with Ciena 6500 platforms.
  • Experience with Ciena RLS (Reconfigurable Line System) platforms.
  • Proficiency in programming with Python and/or other languages.
  • Basic knowledge of Ethernet switching and IP routing protocols.
  • Opportunity to engage with and learn about other DWDM platforms deployed by Telstra, involving tasks beyond support like solutioning, testing, and automation.
