Role Description
We seek a talented Patent Drafting Consultant (Software/AI) to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in software and AI and expertise in drafting patent applications per US patent laws and standards admitted at the USPTO. As a Patent Consultant (Drafting), you will be responsible for end-to-end drafting assignments, including conducting inventor interviews, drafting claims and full specifications, and ensuring that the final work product meets the highest standards of quality and compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct inventor interviews to gather necessary information and understand the technical aspects of inventions.
- Draft patent applications for software and AI-related inventions, including claims, specifications, and drawings, per US patent laws and USPTO standards.
- Independently manage drafting assignments from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to deadlines.
- Review drafts written by other team members, providing constructive feedback and guidance to ensure alignment with US patent drafting standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, scientists, and legal counsel, to develop comprehensive patent strategies and protect intellectual property rights.
- Stay abreast of the latest developments in patent laws, regulations, and industry trends to inform patent drafting and prosecution strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in drafting software-related inventions, preferably focussed on AI and machine learning technologies.
- Strong understanding of US patent laws and regulations, with proven experience in drafting patent applications and prosecuting patents before the USPTO.
- Proficiency in drafting claims and full patent specifications for software and AI-related inventions, with demonstrated ability to produce high-quality work products independently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
