Job Summary:

The AV Systems Administrator is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of audio-visual (AV) systems in classrooms and lecture halls.

This role ensures that all AV equipment functions smoothly to support effective teaching and learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

AV System Installation and Maintenance:

  • Install and configure AV systems including projectors, microphones, speakers, smart boards, and video conferencing equipment.
  • Perform regular maintenance checks to ensure all AV equipment is in good working order.
  • Upgrade AV systems as needed to keep up with technological advancements and institutional requirements.

Troubleshooting and Support:

  • Provide technical support for AV equipment during classes and events.
  • Quickly diagnose and resolve any AV system issues to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain a log of AV issues and resolutions to help prevent future problems.

User Training and Assistance:

  • Train faculty and staff on the proper use of AV equipment.
  • Create and update user manuals and quickstart guides for AV systems.
  • Assist users with setup and operation of AV equipment as needed.

System Monitoring and Management:

  • Monitor the performance and usage of AV systems to ensure optimal operation.
  • Implement and manage remote monitoring tools for AV equipment where applicable.
  • Maintain an inventory of AV equipment and manage asset tracking.

Coordination and Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the IT department to integrate AV systems with network infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with external vendors for AV system installations and repairs.
  • Coordinate with event organizers to understand and fulfill AV requirements for events and conferences.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed records of all AV equipment, including installation dates, configurations, and maintenance schedules.
  • Generate reports on AV system performance and utilization.
  • Document all technical procedures and troubleshooting steps.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Audio-Visual Technology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in AV system installation, maintenance, and support.
  • Strong technical knowledge of AV systems, including projectors, sound systems, smart boards, and video conferencing equipment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve technical issues quickly.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for training and assisting users.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Certifications in AV technologies (such as CTS, Crestron, Extron) are a plus.
