Job Title:
Technical Manager

Penguin Computing is seeking a Technical Manager to join and help to expand our Software team.

Penguin Computing's Scyld Software products are used in the deployment, provisioning, management, and monitoring of some of the largest computational systems in the world.

In this role, you will join our remote-first Software team and collaborate closely with Software Engineers, Solution Architects, Product Managers, UI/UX Professionals, and others across the organization to plan, design, and build APIs, tooling suites and interfaces.

You will have a chance to work with a variety of technologies in the cluster management space along with adjacent technologies.


Some examples include:

bare-metal provisioning, virtualization/containerization/hyper-converged infrastructure, ansible automation and Ia C methodologies, high performance CPU and GPU clusters for both HPC and AI/ML workloads, system administration tooling, UI/UX interfaces for management and visualization.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in computer science, a coding background, broad experience across the technical stack of systems management, and has a proven track record of running a highly-productive, lean and agile team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead SW teams as a player-coach; ready and able to make technical contributions.
  • Manage staff as well as tracking the development of projects and tasks.
  • Participate in regular team meetings: stand-ups, retrospectives, planning meetings, etc.
  • Enable outstanding communication throughout the organization; leading by example to produce documentation for individuals within teams working asynchronously.
  • Cultivating a culture of maintaining best practices, high performance and peak engineering rigor.
  • Collaborating with other teams within the organization as needed to support the mission and vision of the Software org.
  • Support our QA and testing practices.
  • Monitoring, coaching and evaluating the performance of team members on an ongoing basis.
  • Assist with the recruiting and hiring of top technical talent
Qualifications

  • At least 10 to 12 years of software development experience in industry.
  • Additional 2 years of engineering/people management experience, particularly in building and managing collaborative high-performing teams.
  • Experience in employee performance management, career development of team members along with pay for performance practice is required.
  • Experience partnering with US-based teams including Product Management and Solution Engineers to drive product through development process and into production.
  • Proven track record of delivering SW releases and meeting schedule commitments.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies, Jira, git code management, CI/CD.
  • Proficiency with several programming languages, especially python, C/C++, javascript.
  • Proficiency with Linux system administration, bash scripting, and essential services.
  • Proficiency with networking is a plus.
  • Minimum qualification should be B.
E or B Tech or MCA.

Job Location:
Stratus India office has been setup in Bangalore, India.
As a part of IPS Organization we are expanding Penguin product team in India.
India site has been established to perform activities for Engineering, Customer Service and IT teams.

Engineering teams have been established to work on development and maintenance projects across product lines (ft Server, zt C, ever Run) and operating systems (Windows, RHEL, ESX, VOS).

Customer Service teams comprises of Customer service representatives, L1 and L2 support engineers.
IT team performs IT support activities across various operating systems and functions.
