PRINCIPLE FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILTIES :

  • Support a multicloud Linux Environment (IaaS/PaaS/Containers) with multiple M&A and migration projects.
  • Support general administration of Linux Operating System and applications as well as providing a tier 3 escalation point.
  • Respond to, troubleshoot, and resolve wellunderstood escalated UNIXrelated tickets and issues to establish return to service.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams, management, and lines of business to provide basic troubleshooting assistance for largescale outages and issues.
  • Implement Linux enhancement projects under the direction of Senior and Lead Engineers
  • Provide team leadership required to support a large, complex Linux based computing environment and an increasing transition to infrastructure in Cloud.
  • Utilize customer service skills while acting as a technical resource to internal departments and system users.
  • Manage day to day operations of highly virtualized Linux compute infrastructure.
  • Provide status reporting (availability, performance capacity utilization)
  • Create and maintain process & policy documentation.
  • Create or modify basic scripts to resolve performance problems and automate administration tasks.

COMPETENCIES :

  • Deep understanding in various distributions of Linux including but not limited to Oracle Enterprise Linux and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
  • Extensive experience with and good understanding of IT security concepts for compute environments containing varied computer types and operating systems.
  • Extensive experience with onprem IT infrastructure: Compute, Network, Storage and Oracle Database.
  • Extensive experience with computer virtualization. (VMware/Nutanix AHV)
  • Knowledge of cloud and cloud technologies (Azure/AWS/OCI)
  • Ability to automate routine tasks using shell or programming languages (Bash, Python, Java, etc.)
  • Knowledge of 3 tier storage administration and configuration from OS
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in largescale migrations, upgrade, and Datacentre migrations.
  • Strong knowledge of performance analysis and tuning.
  • Strong knowledge of network configurations, TCP/IP, iSCSI, and kernel configurations.
  • Knowledge in automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform and Chef.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting and issue resolution while providing RCA.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Develop and document process improvement opportunities to mitigate reoccurring issues and create more efficient processes.

EXPERIENCE :

  • 48 years of experience with Linux administration and 23 years in design and implementation
  • 12 years of experience in cloud computing with preference on Azure and Oracle Cloud
  • Must have consulting or customer facing experience and good presentation and communication skills.
  • Independent, critical thinker, capable of advance problem solving.
  • Advanced English language skills (verbal, reading, writing, understanding)
  • Experience of working in a multisite global environment and multisite deployment providing business continuity
  • Experience with cloud networking, in particular AWS, OCI, and Azure.
