With annual revenue exceeding $2B, it is one of the fastest-growing businesses at Cisco.

As Cisco is transforming its business model aggressively to a software and recurring revenue model, the security business is leading this journey with 40%+ YoY growth in software recurring revenue.

The Cloud Security group within SBG focuses on developing cloud-delivered security solutions (SaaS based) in a platform-centric approach. This group values and nurtures innovation in an incredibly powerful and high-growth domain.

The group was formed by combining some of the existing cloud assets Cisco had with two hugely successful acquisitions - OpenDNS and CloudLock.

Our vision is to build the most complex security solutions in a cloud-delivered way with utmost simplicity - disrupt the industry's thinking around how deep and how broad a security solution can be while keeping it easy to deploy and simple to manage.

We are at an exciting stage of this journey with 100% YoY growth, and looking for a hard-working, innovative, and productive engineering leader for our Product and Infra Engineering group to help us scale our business.


What you will do

  • Act as a key architect of the Cisco Umbrella product.
  • Create and productize new security capabilities of the product.
  • Support and accelerate scalability, reliability, and performance improvement in the product.
  • Drive longterm architectural direction for the product and threat protection technologies.
  • Mentor engineers in the group and promote engineering excellence.
  • Support innovation and rapid prototyping in the product. Promote innovation opportunities and partner closely with Product Management on providing topnotch product experience.
  • Improve and recommend best SDLC practices.
  • Partner with likeminded architects across Cisco on new product opportunities and broad initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot and root cause critical customer problems as needed.

Who you are

  • Strong, handson expertise in typical PaaS and IaaS platforms, such as Kubernetes, virtualization, and public cloud infrastructure.
  • Good handson coding skills in one or more common programming languages (Python, Go, C).
  • Handson experience in CI/CD and cloud operations.
  • Capable of rapid prototyping of innovative solutions.
  • Experience in networking and data center design.
  • Fluent and confident communication skills: both with external parties (customers, partners) and executive stakeholders.
  • Good technical leadership skills, capable of mentoring senior and junior engineers, and contributing to internal and external thought leadership. Having a blogging and/or presentation portfolio is highly desirable.
  • Background in software optimization and performance analysis.
  • Strong expertise in typical SDLC and DevOps practices, and ability to influence SDLC strategy.
