Job Summary:

The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in delivering high-quality educational experiences for students. This role involves assisting with classroom management, lesson preparation, and providing individualized support to students. The Assistant Teacher plays a vital role in fostering a positive and productive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Classroom Support:

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in delivering instructional activities and lessons.
  • Help manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Supervise students in various settings including the classroom, playground, and during school activities.

Instructional Assistance:

  • Support individual and small group instruction to reinforce learning concepts.
  • Aid in the preparation of educational materials and resources.
  • Assist with the assessment and documentation of student progress.

Student Engagement:

  • Build supportive and nurturing relationships with students.
  • Encourage student participation and engagement in classroom activities.
  • Address student needs and provide appropriate feedback and encouragement.

Administrative Duties:

  • Assist with recordkeeping, including attendance, grades, and other documentation as required.
  • Help organize and maintain a clean and orderly classroom environment.
  • Prepare and set up equipment and materials for lessons and activities.

Professional Development:

  • Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities.
  • Stay informed about educational best practices and school policies.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Teacher and other staff to improve teaching methods and outcomes.

Communication:

  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Provide regular updates to the Lead Teacher on student progress and classroom activities.
  • Assist with parentteacher meetings and conferences as needed.

Work Environment:

  • The role is primarily based in a classroom setting.
  • May involve occasional outdoor supervision and activities.
