SSHE Executive


Roles and Responsibility:

  • Ensure maintenance of the
    SSHE Management System including implementation and maintenance of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certifications for site/ business. Ensure that
    SSHE Management system conforms to Bayer Corporate requirements (KR 2055), Indian regulatory requirements and industry best practices and continues to add value and is continuously improved.
  • Responsible to maintain site
    SSHE emergency management, incident investigation, legal compliance, Hazard Identification Risk Assessment (HIRA), Job Safety Assessment (JSA) & other sitespecific programs.
  • Conduct thorough
    SSHE review of any new capital project for Appropriation Request (AR) approval in SAP. Work with site management to facilitate the implementation of contractor safety program for any ongoing construction activities including coordination and conducting preconstruction meetings, work in progress (WIP) audits, and prestart up audits.
  • Train employees and promote reporting of safety suggestions (SS), Near miss (NM), behaviourbased safety (BBS) observations in IT tool (Intelex) and support business to implement a corrective action plan
  • Conducting internal
    SSHE audits and support business to implement a corrective action plan
  • Prepare and deliver safety training program related to OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, Bayer company requirements and local regulations.
  • Coordinating with various
    SSHE vendors including monitoring and PPE suppliers, etc.
  • Monitor performance and effectiveness of
    SSHE programs. Analyze safety data and advise on appropriate measures to prevent new or recurring accidents.
  • Coordinate in conducting periodic
    SSHE Committee & Management Review Meetings to monitor the effectiveness of Management Systems &
    SSHE programs.
  • Ensure that all site meets legal, contractual, and corporate requirements for
    SSHE including Occupational Medicine (OM) and vehicle safety requirements
  • Identify all
    SSHE risks for business from time to time and put in place programs to mitigate them
  • Ensure site/ business obtains all external approvals and permits for projects in a timely manner
  • Institutionalize a culture which reflects the commitment to ensure an illness and injury free workplace by everyone in the business.
  • Building awareness among employees on
    SSHE topics by devising and conducting appropriate programs during National Safety Week Celebrations, National Electrical Safety Week, World Environment Day, World Water Day, etc.
  • Provide guidance to coordinate OfftheJob Safety (OTJS) and CSR activities at site to positively impact employees, nonemployees, and customers
  • To ensure effective onboarding of new employees and ensure they are oriented all applicable
    SSHE, Occupational Medicine and Vehicle Safety requirements
  • Identify
    SSHE issues by carrying out periodic inspections and audits and work with plant teams to put up necessary controls to eliminate / reduce / mitigate the risk.
  • Imbibe safety culture driven by Leaders and People Managers, through specific intervention / training / discussions.
  • Ensure all relevant licenses/ permits are obtained for the manufacturing operations and site meets all related conditions
  • Ensure emergency preparedness for fire, explosion, natural calamities, and medical emergencies at the site
  • Ensure that the site has adequate environmental programs in areas of air, water, wastewater, hazardous chemicals, and hazardous waste including safe disposal
  • Ensure site has periodic environmental (all air and wastewater media), industrial hygiene, drinking water and process safety (electrical safety, pressure vessel, lifting equipment, etc.) monitoring program which meets regulatory requirement

SSHE

  • To provide direction and resources required to implement
    SSHE policy and programs and foster a culture of Safety amongst all the people directly or indirectly under their area of influence.
  • To demonstrate action of safety as a value to People, Organization and Society at large.

Experience:

  • 2+ years
    SSHE management experience preferably managing manufacturing sites in a multinational company

Qualification and Competencies:

  • Graduate degree (Bachelors in Engineering preferred) and Diploma in Industrial Safety
