Job Overview

The Head of Cyber Security Centre of Excellence (CoE) is responsible for leading and managing the Cyber Security CoE, ensuring the delivery of cutting-edge security solutions and best practices across the organization. This role involves developing a comprehensive cyber security strategy, overseeing the implementation of security initiatives, and fostering a culture of security awareness and innovation.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Planning

  • Develop and implement the CoE's cyber security strategy aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Define the vision, mission, and goals of the Cyber Security CoE.
  • Ensure the CoE remains at the forefront of cyber security trends, technologies, and best practices.

Governance and Compliance

  • Establish and maintain a cyber security governance framework, including policies, standards, and guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and frameworks (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001, NIST).
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to ensure the effectiveness of the security program.

Innovation and Research

  • Drive research and development initiatives to explore new technologies and methodologies in cyber security.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, encouraging team members to propose and implement creative solutions to security challenges.
  • Collaborate with academic institutions, industry partners, and other CoEs to stay abreast of emerging trends and innovations.

Service Delivery and Operations

  • Oversee the delivery of high-quality cyber security services to internal and external clients.
  • Ensure the CoE provides timely and effective support for incident response, vulnerability management, and threat intelligence.
  • Develop and maintain security operations centers (SOCs) to monitor and respond to security incidents.

Talent Development and Team Leadership

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing cyber security team within the CoE.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Set performance goals and conduct regular evaluations to ensure team members meet or exceed expectations.

Knowledge Management and Training

  • Develop and maintain a repository of cyber security knowledge, including best practices, case studies, and technical documentation.
  • Provide training and awareness programs to enhance the security skills and knowledge of employees across the organization.
  • Organize workshops, seminars, and conferences to promote security awareness and education.

Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration

  • Build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including clients, partners, and regulatory bodies.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of the CoE's goals, priorities, and progress.
  • Advocate for the importance of cyber security across the organization and promote a culture of security awareness and responsibility.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting

  • Develop and implement metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of the CoE's security initiatives.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of the CoE, providing regular updates to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure transparency and accountability in all aspects of the CoE's operations.

Budget and Resource Management

  • Develop and manage the CoE's budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
  • Monitor and control expenditures to ensure financial sustainability and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Identify and secure funding opportunities to support the CoE's initiatives and projects.

Risk Management

  • Identify, assess, and manage cyber security risks across the organization.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to address identified vulnerabilities and threats.
  • Coordinate with other business units to ensure a comprehensive approach to risk management.

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in cyber security leadership roles, preferably within a Centre of Excellence or similar environment.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful cyber security strategies and programs.
  • Strong understanding of current and emerging cyber security threats, technologies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Experience with advanced threat detection and response technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with clients across various industries and sectors.
  • Ability to influence and drive change across the organization.
