About this role:
Wells Fargo is looking for a Senior Control Management Specialist. We assess if controls are well-designed and functioning effectively based on Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) data. Our approach is personalized depending on the risk factors and supports proactive risk management following the Risk Management Framework. We conduct evidence-based evaluations of controls and document our findings based on relevant policies and standards.
The team responsible for controls assessment carries out evidence-based control testing, including sampling and examination of evidence to determine the effectiveness of controls in place and their ability to mitigate risks assigned to them. This position plays a key role in enhancing the business control environment by evaluating controls, identifying issues, and providing advisory support to the front line business units.
In this position, you will:
- Participate in identifying, assessing, managing, and mitigating current and emerging risk exposures within Control Management function
- Offer risk management consulting to aid the business in developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies, business processes, and business controls
- Supervise moderately complex business-specific programs and provide risk management consulting to aid the business in developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies
- Supervise, measure, evaluate, and report on the impact of decisions and controls to the relevant business group or functional area
- Guide business groups on the creation, implementation, and monitoring of business-specific programs to detect, assess, and alleviate risk
- Collaborate with relevant business groups to pinpoint current and emerging risks related to business activities and operations
- Work independently on performing evidence-based control assessments by executing various evidence gathering tasks
- Develop, maintain and execute the control evaluation scripts, identify control deficiencies, document and escalate potential issues to appropriate stakeholders
- Validate & monitor action plans, escalate issues as necessary and document the control test artifacts and findings
- Conduct control evaluations for moderate to complex assignments, question status-quo and pinpoint areas for enhanced efficiencies or refining of existing processes
- Engage and cooperate with multiple stakeholders - front line business units, risk program aligned functions and IRM teams to drive the objectives of risk and control programs
- Instill and promote a proactive risk culture, operational excellence and efficiencies
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher. Relevant certifications will be an added advantage
- Total experience of 8+ years with 5 years of relevant experience in Financial Services industry and / or risk & control domains encompassing operational risk, controls testing / evaluation, compliance, internal audit, risk management etc.
- Experience in automation / advanced excel / reporting would be beneficial
- Overall knowledge of industry standards and best practices around control evaluations / testing, internal audit and risk management processes
- Demonstrate positive attitude and readiness to work in a challenging and dynamic environment
- Ability to credibly challenge, conduct tough conversations and effectively communicate with various levels of management
- Ability to synthesize data from various sources and deliver results promptly
