Job Summary:
  • TE Connectivity's Strategic Sourcing Teams are responsible for devising and executing long-term strategies for assigned commodities, suppliers, and parts/services to meet specific objectives in supplier quality, delivery, price, and service.
  • They work closely with crossfunctional partners including engineering, manufacturing, product management, and functional owners to ensure alignment between strategy and implementation.
  • Responsibilities include managing competitive bids, negotiations, contracts, and technical improvement processes for designated commodities/services, as well as collaborating across Business Units and regions for optimal TE utilization.
  • The teams exhibit a high level of proficiency in procurement skills (business/supply chain knowledge, negotiation, sourcing strategy development and execution, global awareness, and project and product lifecycle management) while ensuring adherence to TE policies and initiating New Projects Sourcing for Raw Materials & Tools.
  • Adherence to TE's sourcing procedure for all new expenditures (pre/post RFQ approvals)
  • Collaborating with the Cross-Functional Team to determine the make or buy strategy
  • Selection of suppliers based on commodity strategy for floating RFQs
  • Assessment of supplier offers and proposing the most suitable option for costing evaluation
  • Independent management of series and prototype requests, considering drawing requirements, specifications, deadlines, material quality, and cost in alignment with global and regional purchasing strategies,
  • Presenting the business case to the Sourcing Committee for review and approval of all proposals
  • Verifying that all materials meet specifications and requirements, obtaining approval from PE/Quality team
  • Ensuring supplier compliance with the ramp-up plan as per customer demand
  • Periodically identifying supplier base gaps in anticipation of upcoming projects and involving the commodity team to locate suitable suppliers
  • Fulfilling legal obligations, conducting price benchmarking, and conducting initial assessments of new suppliers
  • Aligning project timelines with the core team to allow adequate lead time for sourcing initiatives
  • Compiling quotation packages for new project scopes, negotiating with suppliers, and establishing benchmarks in collaboration with Lead Buyers
  • Proactively analyzing gaps and opportunities, and undertaking project-specific negotiations aligned with commodity lead buyer
  • Analyzing cost structures, monitoring quotes in relation to total costs
  • Providing sourcing recommendations based on total project lifetime costs and project risks
Educational Background and Skills:
  • BE/ B.Tech (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics) or Bachelor's Degree from a Government-recognized University.
  • Understanding of various stages of product realization and development processes.
  • Familiarity with local/regional/global supplier bases for cable assembly components or electronics is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in SAP, Integrity, Accountability, Inclusion, Innovation, and Teamwork
