A nurse is responsible for the general care of the resident, and in particular, the nursing care.

This includes ensuring good personal hygiene, providing food and drink, caring for clothing, and ensuring comfortable seating and lying positions.

It is important to start from a positive view of humanity, emphasizing the remaining possibilities and development capacities of the residents, even if they are highly dependent on others.

Autonomy and self-realization of residents are fundamental values.

The nurse strives to achieve the overall well-being of residents, family members, and colleagues.

The nurse always provides preventive and/or curative care aimed at maintaining or restoring health.

If the health deteriorates, he/she will guide the resident through their dying process, with absolute respect for the resident's own will and desires, as well as those of their family.

The nurse is under the supervision of and reports directly to the department head, with whom they work closely. The nurse replaces the department head in her absence.

The nurse performs the same tasks as the care assistant, but these are expanded with nursing tasks.
The nurse replaces the department supervisor in his/her absence. The nurse is responsible for the daily hygiene, body, and skin care of the resident.
He/she also administers the necessary nursing care, such as wound care, injections, blood sampling, etc. He/she takes preventive measures to prevent the consequences of prolonged bed rest and immobility.
The nurse ensures the physical comfort and safety of the resident, with particular attention to individual security. He/she carries out the planned care according to the guidelines of the electronic nursing file. He/she ensures that any changes are communicated to the department supervisor.


The nurse continuously pays attention to the wishes and needs of the residents and reports changing needs to the department supervisor.

He/she pays attention to the clothing of the resident, individual aids, and personal belongings.
The nurse brings meals to the residents and provides assistance where needed. Attention is also paid to fluid intake.

He/she is responsible for the order of the room, such as making the bed and, if necessary, changing it, tidying up clothes, tidying up personal belongings..
The nurse assists residents with transportation and movement. In addition to physical care, the nurse actively pays attention to the psychological well-being of the resident. He/she respects everyone's beliefs and convictions.
He/she stimulates the self-worth, independence, self-care, and autonomy of the resident.

The nurse checks all vital parameters in case of illness of a resident or suspicion thereof and reports these data to the department supervisor or takes responsibility if he/she is absent.


The nurse observes the resident with whom he/she comes into contact and reports as necessary in the nursing file and the day/night book.

He/she also reports orally to the department head or her replacement when necessary.

In emergency situations, the nurse takes responsibility and takes necessary measures, such as contacting the doctor or notifying the on-call service.


He/she attends the handover daily and also provides handover to the night shift. He/she communicates problems, complaints, and questions from the resident or his/her family to the department head.
The nurse strives to build a trusting relationship with the resident and his/her family. He/she listens and handles the resident in a pleasant and tactful manner. He/she contacts the family spontaneously and reports on the condition of the resident. If necessary, the family is referred to the department head. The nurse provides palliative care to terminal residents and supports family and visitors in this situation of loss.
The nurse prepares the medication and administers it to the resident. He/she is aware of, observes, and reports on the effects and influence of the administered medication. The nurse notifies the department head of a home visit by a doctor.

If they are not available, the nurse accompanies the doctor during his/her visit to the resident and provides the necessary information.

He/she records the instructions and treatment prescriptions of the doctor accurately.
