Overview

Microsoft Azure Storage is a massively scalable, highly distributed, ubiquitously accessible cloud storage platform, designed to scale out and serve the entire world. Azure storage already runs at Exascale (storing Exabytes of data) and we will scale our designs over the next decade to support Zettascale (storing Zettabytes of data).

As a Principal Software Engineering Manager on Azure Storage Mover, you will work on building the online ingestion Platform that will enable customers to migrate their on-premises data to Azure Storage. The Azure Storage Mover is a standalone storage service whose mission is to provide simple, seamless online data migration to Azure Storage and enhanced data management solutions to customers. Our mantra is to innovate, grow and learn.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, GoLang, Java, C, C++, or PythonOR equivalent experience. 4+ years of experiences managing a team of engineers by setting clear expectations, keeping team members energized, and delivering great results
6+ years os experiences in building quality products and services preferably in distributed systems, linux systems, building solutions in GoLang
6+ years of experiences designing and problem-solving skills, with a strong bias for quality and engineering excellence at scale.
6+years of experiences shipping products - on time with high quality.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
OR related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, GoLang, Java, JavaScript, PythonOR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, GoLang, Java, JavaScript, PythonOR equivalent experience.
Prior hands-on development experience including leading architecture for large scale system (storage, cloud computing) designing, and writing code, experience in coding
Ability to demonstarate empathy for customers using the product.

Responsibilities

Manage the team: Attract and retain talent while supporting career development and growth of team members. Own and show strong technical and non-technical leadership in driving the Mover product E2E. Create a team culture of quality first mentality that directly contributes to delivering high quality features and changes as part of the stack. Research and deep dive into technical issues and bring clarity to the team as needed. Own planning and ensure top deliverables are met for the success of Microsoft, Azure Storage, and the team. Contribute to the overall technical direction of Azure storage alongside other managers across geo locations.
