Position Summary
The Cloud Native Developer is responsible for developing advanced technical solutions with the highest standards of engineering excellence. This is a hands-on technical role requiring deep, modern technical experience.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will be comfortable creating solutions based on Cloud Native approaches based on the latest modern technologies.

Key Responsibilities
Technical & Engineering Leadership
Develop new, next-generation solutions based on modern Cloud Native architectural principles.

Create solutions that fully leverage the capabilities of modern Microservice and Container-based environments running in Public, Private and Hybrid Cloud.

Contribute to HCL thought leadership across the Cloud Native domain with an expert understanding of Open Source (e.g. Kubernetes / CNCF) and partner technologies.

Engage with peers in our global ecosystem, and collaborate on joint technical projects with partners, including Google, Microsoft, AWS, IBM, Red Hat, Intel, Cisco, and Dell / VMware.

Service Delivery
Engineer new products and solutions and leverage modern approaches such as Domain Driven Design.
Assess existing complex solutions and recommend appropriate technical treatments to transform the application with Cloud Native /12-Factor characteristics.
Refactor existing solutions to implement a Microservices -based architecture.
Replatform solutions to operate containerised/Kubernetes environments.
Define the modernization strategy for client applications and associated IT practices.
Innovation & Initiative
Engage in technical innovation and support HCL's position as an industry leader
Contribute to HCL sponsorship of industry bodies such as the CNCF and Linux Foundation.
Author Whitepapers, blogs, and speak at industry events.
Be a trusted, knowledgeable internal innovator driving success across our global workforce.

Always maintain hands-on technical credibility, keep in front of the industry, and be prepared to show others the way forward.

Client Relationships

Advise on Cloud Native engineering best practices, run client briefings and workshops, and engage technical leaders in a strategic dialogue.

Perform a Trusted Advisor role
Contribute to technical projects with a strong focus on technical excellence and on-time delivery.
Mandatory Skills & Experience
You have had exposure to cloud migration or modernization projects that feature significant architectural and technical transformation of applications.

You will have significantly contributed to developing complex solutions that leverage Cloud Native technologies—featuring container-based, microservices-based approaches; based on applying 12-factor principles to application engineering.

You have exemplary verbal and written communication skills (English).

A passionate developer with 5+ years of experience in Java (and/or Golang) and Spring programming and comfortable working as part of a Paired/Balanced team.

Positive and solution-oriented mindset.
Solid experience delivering Agile and Scrum projects in a Jira-based project management environment.
Desired Skills & Experience

The perfect candidate will already be working within a System Integrator, Vendor or Enterprise organisation with experience in a development role within the Cloud domain.

You will know Kubernetes and other Cloud Native technologies exceptionally well. Experience with commercial Kubernetes distros, including Red Hat OpenShift, VMWare Tanzu, Google Anthos, Azure AKS, Amazon EKS, Google GKE.
You will possess solid hands-on software engineering skills. Exceptional coding proficiency is mandatory for this role. Java, C#, Python, or Golang.
Deep understanding of core practices including SRE, Agile, Scrum, XP and Domain Driven Design. Familiarity with the CNCF open-source community.
Exposure to big data, analytics, and AI/ML technologies.

Your deep technical skills have been recognised with multiple Cloud and Technical certifications at a Professional level, obtained from Google, Microsoft, AWS, Linux Foundation, IBM or Red Hat.
