The Role
The Data Scientist plays a pivotal role in providing dynamic and reliable clinical analytics products and services by utilizing both internal and external data to facilitate quicker decision-making across Novo Nordisk. Working under the direct leadership of the Associate Manager Real World Evidence, the Data Scientist RWE utilizes a combination of internal and external real-world data to derive valuable disease insights and epidemiological information to enhance patient care and meet business requirements. In addition, they spearhead innovation in RWD analytics by introducing new analytical methods, platforms, and technologies to address research and business queries, thereby fostering data-driven decision-making. The incumbent also serves as a subject matter expert on real-world data sources, their applicability, and innovative analytic techniques, establishing robust internal networks across functions such as Data Science, thus serving as a key liaison into the RWE-RWD team.
- Develop and implement the most effective analytics methodologies to tackle clinical issues and queries (including text mining analysis, data visualization, data mining, statistical modeling, machine learning) based on requests funneled through RWE Leads.
- Stay abreast of cutting-edge analytical techniques and platforms, integrating them into real-world scenarios; implement these techniques and platforms while elucidating the rationale for their adoption in a manner understandable to internal stakeholders.
- Pioneer data-driven approaches to unearth business insights that address unresolved clinical questions, steering innovation. Demonstrate a deep comprehension of business needs and clinical data.
- Verify, interpret, and present data discoveries to key stakeholders, translating data analyses into compelling narratives that elucidate intricacies and drive action.
- Contribute to the establishment of new standards and practices.
Qualifications
- Possession of relevant technical education with a minimum of 6 years of experience in sectors such as the life sciences industry or technology research firms. An advanced degree in Information Science (MIS), Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics (MS), or a related field (MS) may be considered in lieu of experience as deemed suitable.
- At least 4 years of practical experience in the Data Science domain. Prior exposure to the pharmaceutical industry is highly advantageous.
- Hands-on experience with longitudinal RWD assets (e.g., HEOR, claims, electronic health records, surveys).
- Proficiency in Data Science methodologies, including machine learning.
- Advanced proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, Python, SPSS, and/or Stata), database querying (SQL), or visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) is preferred.
- A collaborative problem-solving approach and adeptness in planning and multitasking.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven track record in producing visualizations for analytical comprehension and communication purposes.
- Prior experience in conveying advanced analyses and models to non-technical audiences.
- Genuine enthusiasm for leveraging data to derive insights and facilitate data-informed decision-making.

Global Medical Affairs, GBS (GMA GBS), an extension of the Global Medical Affairs team at Headquarters (HQ) in Denmark and Zurich, operates out of Global Business Services (GBS) in Bangalore, India. Comprising highly motivated medical advisors, project managers, scientific advisors, and publication managers, the team collaborates closely with HQ, regions, and affiliates globally. The core competencies of the team lie in communicating scientific and medical information on the company's products to the external scientific community and internally, organizing external medical events, including in-house content development and project management, and overseeing publication planning.
