The Software Development Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and testing software systems, modules, or applications, fostering software improvements and new products, encompassing cloud-based or internet-related tools. Individuals in this role are tasked with intricate design for specific modules/sub-systems, creating prototypes for multi-vendor infrastructure, and presenting them internally or externally to clients. Design and develop functionalities within a micro-services environment collaborating with APIs, telemetry data, and executing ML/AI algorithms, working with both structured and unstructured data.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop solutions and functionalities driving business growth
  • Code writing and testing
  • Perform automated testing
  • Engage in software deployment
  • Release software components in collaboration with the product team
  • Integrate and construct solutions through automation and coding, utilizing 3rd party software
  • Create, build, and troubleshoot large-scale distributed systems
  • Update and maintain technical program, end-user documentation, and operational procedures
  • Code refactoring
  • Review code authored by other developers

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:

  • Proficient in cloud architecture and services within various public clouds like AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, and Microsoft Office 365
  • Skilled in programming languages such as C/C++, Java, Python, etc.
  • Familiarity with data structures, algorithms, and software design, equipped with strong analytical and debugging capabilities
  • Thorough understanding of microservices-based software architecture and experience in API product development
  • Expertise in SQL and no-SQL data stores including Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Cassandra
  • Hands-on experience with container run time (Docker, LXC/LXD)
  • Knowledgeable about agile practices and advocates for test-driven development
  • Capability to mentor junior engineers
  • Exhibit initiative and a positive attitude
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Effective collaboration in multifunctional teams
  • Adaptability in diverse teams with varying backgrounds and experience levels

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

  • ME/MTech in Computer Science or equivalent with demonstrated related experience or BE/BTech in Computer Science or equivalent with demonstrated related experience as a software engineer handling large-scale systems

Required Experience:

  • Experience collaborating with geo-distributed teams through innovation, bootstrapping, pilot, and production phases with multiple stakeholders ensuring top-notch quality and performance
  • Working experience with extensive datasets and ability to employ suitable ML/AI algorithms
  • Two or more years in developing microservices and RESTful APIs
