We are seeking a compassionate and engaging Talecaller to join our team and enrich the lives of our residents through the power of storytelling.


Position Overview:

As a Talecaller, you will play a vital role in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for our residents.

Your primary responsibility will be to engage with residents through storytelling, reminiscing, and shared conversations.

You will have the opportunity to cultivate meaningful relationships with residents, helping them connect with their past, find joy in the present, and build a sense of community within the hostel.


Responsibilities:

  • Craft and deliver engaging and interactive storytelling sessions for residents on a regular basis.
  • Facilitate reminiscence activities to evoke memories and stimulate meaningful conversations.
  • Collaborate with staff to integrate storytelling into daily care routines and activities.
  • Tailor storytelling sessions to suit the diverse interests and preferences of residents.
  • Listen attentively to residents' stories and provide empathetic support and encouragement.
  • Maintain records of residents' favorite stories, preferences, and feedback for future reference.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance storytelling skills.

Qualifications:

  • Genuine passion for working with elderly individuals and a commitment to enhancing their quality of life.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong storytelling abilities and creativity in crafting engaging narratives.
  • Empathetic and patient demeanor, with the ability to listen actively and show compassion.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Previous experience in storytelling, eldercare, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Certification or training in activities programming or therapeutic recreation is a plus.
