Full-Stack Software Engineer:


As a Full-Stack Software Engineer at OpenGov, you will build the best-in-class SaaS solution that enables efficiency, transparency, and accountability within government agencies.

You will be a key member of our engineering team, delivering new platform capabilities, features and improvements in a fast-paced environment, using modern frontend technologies to drive our mission to make the world a little better every day by powering our key community functions.

A typical day in this role will involve a blend of collaborative teamwork, creative problem-solving, and hands-on development.

Strong collaboration skills within your team and cross-functionally, and an ability to quickly ramp up and learn new technologies will be keys to your success.


Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop robust microservices using , JavaScript, TypeScript & a modern React UI to serve over 100k daily users across hundreds of customer communities
  • Own the end-to-end product lifecycle, collaboration with cross-functional agile teams, including product, design, could, support/infra and other customer success stakeholders to shape the system
  • Contribute to the entire SDLC, from ideation and design to implementation and maintenance
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code across both front-end and back-end systems.
  • Develop and execute unit, integration and E2E test cases, scripts, plans, and procedures to ensure the code/software meets quality standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Deliver iterative improvements with performant code to realize the product vision and roadmap plans
  • Conduct code reviews, testing and delivery of high-quality maintainable code
  • Using an API first approach, develop REST microservices that communicate with the OpenGov event driven platform for Data & Reporting services, as well as integrate with customer systems
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks using industry-standard tools and technologies.
  • Continuously enhance and optimize automated testing processes to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Participate in the CI/CD and DevOps automation initiatives to build, test, deploy & operate on industry leading platforms & tools including AWS Cloud, Kubernetes, Docker, GitHub, Sonar, Argo-CD, New Relic etc.
  • You will act as a key contributor to continuously improve the way the team collaborates and delivers, while elevating the quality and business value of the product, as well as the technical innovation and excellence
  • Contribute to OpenGov's Engineering culture of innovation, leading-edge technology adoption and quality

Requirements and Preferred Experience:

  • 5+ years of professional experience and track record of developing high-quality scalable software code using modern computing languages in a self-organized Agile environment
  • 4+ years of professional experience in JavaScript & TypeScript with modern frameworks Node, Angular, React, Ember with good strong knowledge of HTML, CSS etc.
  • 4+ years of experience in backend and Infra things like API (REST/GraphQL), DB (MongoDB/NoSQL/Redshift/PostgreSQL etc), Infra (AWS Cloud, Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub, Sonar, Argo-CD, Nee Relic etc.)
  • 4+ years of experience in delivering software using an agile methodology (Jira, Scrum, ideally)
  • Experience building, a heavily utilized to scale consumer-facing enterprise SaaS software
