Position Overview :

As Database Administrator you will ensure the smooth operation, security, and efficiency of the database systems, supporting the organization's data management needs effectively. some of your responsibilities will include;
  • Designing the database schema, which involves creating tables, defining relationships between them, and setting up constraints.
  • Installing and configuring database software to meet the specific needs of the organization.
  • Monitoring database performance and making necessary adjustments to optimize speed and efficiency.
  • Creating and managing indexes to improve query performance.
  • Implementing security measures to safeguard the database. This includes setting up user accounts, roles, and permissions to control access.
  • Ensuring that sensitive data is encrypted both at rest and in transit.
  • Creating and maintaining backup schedules to ensure data is regularly backed up.
  • Developing and implementing disaster recovery plans to restore data in case of hardware failure, data corruption, or other disasters.
  • Ensuring the accuracy and consistency of data by setting up validation rules.
  • Regularly cleaning the database to remove or correct inaccurate, incomplete, or irrelevant data.
  • Applying patches and updates to the database management system (DBMS) software.
  • Performing routine maintenance tasks such as reorganizing tables and indexes, archiving old data, and optimizing storage.
  • Providing support to database users, helping them to resolve any issues related to database access or performance.
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting database-related problems.
  • Generating reports on database performance, usage, and other relevant metrics for stakeholders.
  • Ensuring that the database complies with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Maintaining audit logs to track access and changes to the database.
  • Setting up and managing development and testing environments.
  • Working with developers to optimize queries and ensure efficient data access during application development.
Requirements
  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Data Management, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Data Administrator or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in data entry and data management tools.
  • Understanding of data security principles and best practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Excel/SQL/Tableau
