Job Overview:

We are in search of a seasoned process engineer with extensive expertise in PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) or PTA (Purified Terephthalic Acid) processing. The ideal candidate will leverage their broad knowledge across all design phases, from conceptual studies to detailed engineering. They must have a proven track record and be acknowledged for their grasp of fundamental process concepts. Proficiency in creating standard process documents such as design basis, H&MB, PFDs, and P&IDs is essential. Simulation experience is preferred, with familiarity in multiple software applications like Hysys, Pro II, Unisim, and Promax considered advantageous. The candidate should have experience working in project teams engaged in basic and detailed engineering for project execution across various modes. The Senior Engineer will utilize Bechtel's protocols and processes, coupled with a robust understanding of process design principles, to develop project deliverables. Prioritizing deliverable quality and minimizing rework through stringent quality practices, the engineer will work both independently and collaboratively within a team. This position is based in Gurgaon, India.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Execute process deliverables adhering to designated engineering criteria, employing approved engineering practices, procedures, codes, and standards.
  • Take the lead in coordinating design development with other engineering disciplines, effectively managing workload and meeting project schedule deadlines.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in process simulation and automation, if possible.
  • Utilize specialized engineering hydraulic programs like Flarenet, Pipeflo, PIPENET, VMGSim for calculations and interpretations.
  • Utilize 3D modeling software such as SmartPlant Review or PDSView to assess plant physical design.
  • Apply fundamental chemical engineering principles in process design, covering heat transfer, vapor-liquid equilibria, mass transfer, and thermodynamics.
  • Conduct design calculations using standard simulation software programs like Hysys, Pro II, Unisim, and/or Promax.
  • Demonstrate competence in relief calculation methodologies and applicable industry codes and standards for pressure relief design.
  • Design flare systems.
  • Proficient in equipment process design, encompassing vessels, columns, heat exchangers, and specifying equipment and control valves.
  • Generate process engineering deliverables including BFDs, PFDs, H&MBs, Equipment Datasheets, Utility Summaries, and other project-specific process documents.
  • Understanding of alarm and trip setpoint rationale and process safety time computations.
  • Create and review Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), from initial drafts to construction release.
  • Create and review Line Designation Tables (LDTs) capturing process and mechanical design conditions.
  • Conduct and review hydraulic calculations for pumps, compressors, control valves, and line sizing.
  • Develop and review Design Pressure and Temperature Diagrams (DPDTs) by analyzing and establishing piping system design conditions.
  • Participate in Plot Plan reviews, 3D Model assessments, and P&ID Reviews.
  • Engage in safety reviews (HAZID, HAZOP/ SIL) while ensuring compliance with relevant safety and quality standards.
  • Review project deliverables from licensors, other disciplines, and suppliers during project execution to verify the incorporation of process intent into facility design.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • 11-15 years of experience in Process Design & Engineering within PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) or PTA (Purified Terephthalic Acid) processing
  • Minimum 8 years of practical experience in Complex Hydraulics, P&ID development, LDT preparation, Simulation, equipment and instrument datasheets, Process description, DPDT, Control Narratives
Required Skills and Knowledge:
  • Familiarity with industry and regulatory standards, design criteria, and relevant codes
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities
  • Efficient coordination with other engineering disciplines and stakeholders
  • Broad understanding of the principles and practices involved in managing large projects
