Fitter Machinist Trainee

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Assist in the assembly, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems and machinery.
• Learn to use hand and power tools to complete tasks such as drilling, tapping, grinding, and cutting.
• Learn to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics to assemble machinery and mechanical components.
• Perform preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment as directed.
• Assist in the identification and troubleshooting of mechanical issues and defects.
• Learn to operate machinery such as lathes, milling machines and grinders.
• Keep work areas clean and organized to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
• Follow all safety procedures and regulations.

Essential Skills:

• Able to interpret technical drawings and blueprints to create or repair machinery and equipment accurately.
• Should be familiar with different machining techniques, such as drilling, milling, turning, and grinding, to work with a variety of materials and create complex components.
• Should be familiar with a range of hand and power tools, such as lathes, drill presses, grinders and saws.
• Must be familiar with safety standards and protocols for working with machinery and equipment to prevent accidents.
• Must have excellent attention to detail to ensure that their work meets the required specifications and tolerances.
• Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 25 Kgs.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time and perform repetitive tasks.
• Good handeye coordination and manual dexterity.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Basic knowledge of manufacturing equipment and tools is an advantage.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions and technical drawings accurately.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
• Willingness to learn new skills and take on new challenges.
• Strong work ethic and a commitment to safety and quality.
