The Senior System Engineer specialized in database administration is accountable for supporting and managing SAP databases and systems within our SAP landscape, ensuring their availability, performance, and security. You will collaborate closely with senior team members to troubleshoot issues, implement improvements, and contribute to the overall success of our SAP environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and optimize database servers.
  • Establish procedures to enhance database security.
  • Define and uphold database standards.
  • Oversee database access.
  • Tune the performance of database systems.
  • Deploy, upgrade, and oversee database applications.
  • Detect and resolve database errors.
  • Suggest and implement emerging database technologies.
  • Create and manage database reports, visualizations, and dashboards.
  • Automate recurring database tasks.
  • Develop, deploy, and supervise system backup and recovery strategies.
  • Document system configurations, processes, and procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and compliance with standards.
  • Stay updated on the latest SAP technologies and trends, offering recommendations for system enhancements and optimizations.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or possess equivalent professional experience.
  • Have a minimum of 5+ years of database administration experience.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all facets of database administration and a solid grasp of SAP applications, operating systems, hardware, integration, and networking in various SAP technologies and cloud platforms.
  • Possess experience in SAP HANA administration, performance optimization, and issue resolution.
  • Show expertise in SAP ASE, PostgreSQL, MaxDB, and Oracle database administration.
  • Exhibit competence in database backup, restoration, and recovery.
  • Have competence in operating systems like Linux and Windows server.
  • Show experience in full life cycle implementation of multiple database installations, upgrades, and patches.
  • Possess familiarity with database monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Display strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possess good interpersonal and documentation skills.
  • Be capable of working efficiently in a global team setup, engaging with cross-functional teams across the organization to establish strong collaborations to achieve common goals.
  • Be self-driven with good time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Take initiative in seizing new opportunities with enthusiasm.
  • Show intellectual curiosity and readiness to learn new technologies promptly.
  • Possess high energy and enthusiasm, thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Have experience in deploying SAP solutions for the pharmaceutical industry, especially in FDA and GxP regulated environments, which is advantageous.
  • Have managed projects or components of large projects previously.
  • Be skilled in handling ambiguity in problem definitions and organizational dynamics, particularly in a matrix organization.
  • Capable of managing work across virtual teams.
  • Demonstrate strong presentation skills, both oral and written.
  • Show openness to acquiring new skills and aiding others in enhancing their technological proficiency.
  • Focus on enhancing processes, structures, and knowledge within the team, leading by evaluating current scenarios and providing actionable recommendations.
