Our Data Engineering teams are building our next generation Data platforms and are our main contributors to materialise BT Digital strategy.


  • This role ensures that our BT data flows into our Analytics platforms and they are available for exploitation of our BT Business Division.
  • You will be working in a very creative environment where you will contribute to the design and building of our Data pipelines and supporting our new Data Visualization/Science products.
- he Data Analytics Associate assists in the collection, analysis, interpretation and presentation of data to support the BT Group's strategic decision making.

What you'll be doing

  • Work closely with our internal teams of Data Designers and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into a technical implementation and write code to build our Data pipelines.
  • Monitor and maintain our data pipelines focusing on improving their performance.
  • Recommending the correct technologies to be used and in the most cost effective manner.
  • Leave code better than you found it (and fully commented) and participate in CodeReviews.
  • Maintain and enforce a good standard of coding and adhere to the same conventions as the rest of the team
The skills & experience you need

5 Key skills identified as:

  • Experience with analytic warehouse solutions, data warehousing principles, data movement from data stores into analytic warehouses, and with performance/scalability improvements.
  • Hands on experience working with Google Data Products (e.g. BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, AI Building Blocks, Looker, Cloud Data Fusion, Dataprep, etc.).
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL modern data stores.
  • Python programming skills. Java / other languages beneficial. (Optional)
  • Other skills beneficial for the role are:
  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with Big Data, PaaS, and IaaS technologies.
  • Experience with streaming data (e.g. Kafka).
  • Experience using version control and CI/CD tools (e.g GITLAB, Jenkins, et al.)
  • Official Google Data Engineer Certification
  • Experience writing and deploying Terraform scripts
  • Communicate complex ideas effectively to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Knowledge and experience of using Agile.
