About the Role

The role sits within Core Systems Tech area under Australia Retail & Commercial Division.

Core Systems is a conglomerate of mainframe applications that run ANZ's Customer, Deposits, Lending, Transaction and Card Systems for Retail and Commercial Businesses.

Servicing multiple business units and tribes across ANZ, we run mission critical applications for the bank that process thousands of transactions per second in real time and this brings serious challenges to solve and engineer.

The services we build underpin most parts of the bank and we are reinventing the way we enable integration for our service for consumption by the rest of the bank.

As a Senior Engineer in our team, you'll play a key role in helping to design / delivering robust solutions for one of the mission critical, high availability and platinum rated application in the bank.

This role is responsible for building, evolving, and supporting the Core Banking systems on Mainframe. The role involves working across a wide range of technologies including Mainframe, Devops, Integration and observability tools.

What will you bring?

Have a thirst and willingness to expand knowledge with new technologies bringing benefits into Core Systems
Significant mastery and deep expertise in at least one of the following Core Systems:
Loans (ILS); Deposits (IDS) and / or Transaction Management (CTM)
Highly skilled in debugging techniques in the above system
Ability to code, script, perform design and code reviews and be involved with design discussions about architecture, data models and business logic
Monitors customer satisfaction and draws on understanding of customer to deliver customer centric solutions and achieve positive outcomes
Understands, accepts and supports the need for change and adapts own behaviours to changing circumstances and constructively provides input to change projects
Interest/curiosity in key banking and finance industry trends & market research data
Draw insights from research materials and develop customer led initiatives
Uses an understanding of others' point of view and empathy to gain buy-in to develop existing relationships and help build new ones
Ability to use open source technologies and tools
Passionate about learning and developing oneself in engineering capabilities
Obsessed with software engineering excellence and new methodologies
Provide out of hours on-call technical support on rotational basis as and when required

Integration Technologies

RESTful APIs & JSON using z/OS Connect, IBM MQ.
