The International Mobile & web team, part of Enterprise Digital, is responsible for accelerating the footprint of the American Express app across the 20+ international markets.

Our goal is to drive a market-leading experience though customer-centred design delivered in partnership with key organizations across the company.

We're looking for an energetic and highly organized individual to join our team.
The successful candidate must have experience managing complex initiatives and go-to-market strategies while thriving in a multi-workstream environment.

Success in this role will be defined by the ability to coordinate and having expert management of stakeholders and teams spanning varying disciplines and geographies.

Critical thinking is required to elevate the role and team to its next iteration.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading implementation of various features & capabilities for the Amex mobile apps (iOS & Android) in International, and longer term, website.
  • Bringing US digital features to the International markets, to solve local business needs and help central & local goals.
  • Partnering with a locally based engineering team for all elements of the development cycle, user story creation & leading ceremonies (Grooming, standup, retros etc...)
  • Leading & supporting ceremonies with our engineering partners, actively contributing towards the backlog, ensuring our engineering partners have requisite detail to interpret user-stories & success criteria.
  • Driving market requirement gathering & inputs – managing 'ingestion' of market inputs into delivery platforms/processes and roadmap.
  • Supporting & validating technical requirements for capability and platform integrations.
  • Participation in strategic development process, and self identified opportunity understanding platform limitations & opportunities to ensure our app & web experiences remain a market-leading product across the world
  • Maintaining product documentation & management tools for all features developed, and supporting broader team documentation.
  • Improving ways of working through product operations and maximising efficiencies driving automation throughout all mobile disciplines.
  • Some degree of flexibility with working hours will be required as part of the role to partner with colleagues in other geographies (US & UK primarily)
  • Leadership and mentorship of 1-2 direct reports and helping bring through the next generation of product managers.
Qualifications

Types of people we need:

  • Experience in product management, mobile applications/web development, product operations & agile ceremonies.
  • People leadership - This role will have between 1 and 2 associate product manager direct reports, locally based. Someone who is able to coach and instil best practices of product management will be vital.
  • Collaborative – our role is largely partnership driven; working with product managers, local market teams & technology partners is vital.
  • Technically minded & resourceful – with an appreciation of how to develop mobile & web features.
  • Proactive and enthusiastic – self-starter with a strong affinity to bring projects to a close quickly.
  • Strategic thinker – ability to see both the big picture and the details and to translate business requirements into actionable features and delivery plan.
  • Optimiser – being able to identify efficiencies and new ways of working to achieve greater economies of scale for feature development.
  • Detail oriented – active involvement in backlog development requires a process-driven mindset with a strong attention to detail and ability to manage details in an environment with changing priorities.
  • Strong communicator – we're looking for someone who will speak up and proactively contribute to all conversations.
  • Strong multitasker and someone who enjoys a wide variety of challenges each day. This role has many different aspects that the successful candidate will need to manage simultaneously. Priorities and workload will be fluid.
