Introduction: We are seeking a skilled Device Certification Engineer to join our product development team. This role is responsible for managing the entire certification process for our devices, ensuring they meet all regulatory and industry standards before market release. The ideal candidate will have experience with device testing, certification procedures, and a strong understanding of the relevant standards in our industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the process of obtaining certifications for all devices, including but not limited to FCC, CE, UL, and Bluetooth SIG.
  • Work closely with product development teams to understand technical specifications and ensure devices are designed with certification requirements in mind.
  • Develop and implement testing protocols to assess product compliance with various standards and regulations.
  • Coordinate with external testing labs and certification bodies to conduct required testing and review test results.
  • Manage documentation related to device certification, including preparing and maintaining reports, compliance records, and certification marks.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies and certification bodies to stay updated on new standards and changes in certification criteria.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to the engineering team on how to resolve any compliance issues identified during the testing process.
  • Collaborate with product managers and marketing teams to communicate certification status and understand the impact on product launch timelines.
  • Assist in the development of risk management strategies by identifying potential compliance risks throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Train and mentor junior staff on certification processes and best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a device certification role, particularly in a technology or electronics manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory standards such as FCC, CE, UL, RoHS, and Bluetooth SIG.
  • Proficient in using testing equipment and understanding technical documents and specifications.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with wireless and mobile device testing and certification.
  • Familiarity with international certification processes and standards.
  • Experience working with product lifecycle management (PLM) software and documentation tools.
