Role DescriptionAs a Director of Engineering, you will be leading the engineering charge within ZapCom, working closely with product owners, architects, senior engineers, and developers as well as the company leadership team and clients .You will be responsible for leading and scaling our engineering organization and act as a thought leader for the technical organization.

The Director of Engineering will have the following responsibilities:


Lead a strong, geographically distributed team of developers (senior and junior) and architects in building products, prototypes and project-specific bespoke solutions;Collaborate with business functions and client engagement managers in ensuring requirements are met satisfactorilyLead design discussions and drive documentation of critical decisions made in the journey of a product / projectEncourage a healthy culture of open debate by fostering the latest in thinking in key computer science topics pertinent to the company's businessCommunicate effectively and unambiguously with all internal and external stakeholders;Institute and enforce sound engineering processes that realize hygiene around all technical activities including product specification translation, architecture, solution design, coding, testing and maintenance with as much automation as possibleCreate and implement best practices to ensure that resources are being allocated efficientlyProvide line management for all direct reports, complete annual reviews and conduct performance management for the engineering team.

Mentor and grow a team of diverse individuals with differing specialisations;

KEY SKILLS

Applicants must have done all of the following:

15+ years of relevant experience with an advanced degree in Computer Science and EngineeringMust have experience in building and delivering product and platform at enterprise scaleManaged a team of software developers / engineers for at least 5 yearsContributed towards a product as a senior developer or senior engineer or team lead for at least 3 years3+ years as Developer / Engineer with testing, automation and production support experienceA broad and deep technology background on building application software using multiple languages.

Experience in Cloud Migration. and green field deployments.

Global experience and working with Global customers and understanding of global cultureThe ideal candidate would also have one or more of the following:
Experience being a team lead in a complex environmentDelivered successful projects in a consulting engagement modelSolid understanding of, though not an expert in, data and its analysis methodsExperience managing IT/API/web/mobile applications and platformsStrong fundamental grasp of good software engineering practices
