Title: Engineer - Database (SQL Administrator)

Years of experience: 2-4 Years

Location: Pune

Job Purpose Statement

The Role of the Engineer is to work with the Operations teams & Architects in a 24*7 global operating model and render services for all the Disaster recovery activities. This role is also responsible for identifying infrastructure/platform bottle necks and analysing complex issues.

Key Responsibilities

1. Help Drive overall Database (Oracle) recovery strategy.

2. Identify infrastructure bottlenecks that potentially impact MSSQL Recovery.

3. Identifies and resolves complex issues/problem in a timely manner.

4. Review technical recovery procedures for clarity and accuracy prior to recovery or test event.

5. Execute customer-specific recovery procedures to restore operating system, applications and data

6. Create/Update SOP's and Knowledge Base.

7. Responsible for providing clear and concise updates in the ticketing system in a timely manner.

8. Lead the pre-test call and capture all the dependencies of the platform.

9. Follow the escalation procedure promptly.

10. Proactively owns an incident and resolves complex issues.

Technical Competencies (Experience and Knowledge)

Solid working knowledge of Complex Microsoft SQL Landscapes in technical analysis and troubleshooting.

Experience in different versions of MSSQL database Administrations

Hands on experience in SQL clusters like Failover cluster, Always On etc

Experience in MSSQL Backup & Recoveries using native SQL Backup & different enterprise backup tools like Netbackup, Rubrik etc.

Experience in recovering MSSQL cluster to Cluster & Cluster to Standalone

Solid Knowledge in SQL Replications, Log shipping & Mirroring

Hands on experience with MSSQL Patching, Upgrade & Migrations

Good experience in Database Performance tuning.

Knowledge in handling databases in Public cloud ( AWS/AZURE/GCP/OCI)

Experience in Disaster Recovery executions

Skills and Behavioral Competencies

Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written

Should have fair knowledge on MS office suite

Knowledge of service delivery/Management & service support disciplines as defined under ITIL

Strong problem-solving, negotiation and time management skills

Understanding of Cloud, Backup, Storage & OS technology

Ability to work on own initiative with little direction, whilst remaining a team player

Ability to work in collaborate with key contacts in other departments.

Excellent time management and organisation

Understanding of the sales process
