Job Description

Overall Responsibilities:
Design, construct, install, test, and maintain highly scalable data management systems.
Ensure systems meet business requirements and industry practices.
Integrate new data management technologies and software engineering tools into existing structures.
Create high-performance algorithms, predictive models, and prototypes.
Build robust, fault-tolerant data pipelines that clean, transform, and aggregate unorganized and messy data into databases or data sources.
Collaborate closely with the data science team to develop system requirements and project plans.

Software Requirements:
Proficient in Hadoop-based technologies (e.g., MapReduce, Hive and Pig)
Experience with Python and Python libraries (especially pandas for data manipulation)
Experience with SQL database design and development.
Strong knowledge in AWS cloud services: S3, EMR, Glue, Athena
Understanding of basic LINUX commands and shell scripting

Category wise Technical Skills:

Data Processing & Analysis:
Expertise in Python with a strong grasp on libraries like pandas for data analysis and data manipulation tasks.

Big Data Technologies:
Proficient in Hadoop ecosystem, including Hadoop file system operations and job scheduling.

Database Management:
Skilled in writing complex SQL queries and managing relational and non-relational databases.

Cloud Services:
Operational understanding of AWS services related to data analytics such as S3, EMR, Glue, and Athena.

Operating Systems:
Comfortable with LINUX environment, able to perform essential operations and understand shell scripting.

Day-to-Day Activities:


Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and build out new API integrations to support continuing increases in data volume and complexity.

Write reusable, testable, and efficient code.
Perform data analysis required to troubleshoot data related issues and assist in the resolution of data issues.
Work closely with a team of frontend and backend engineers, product managers, and analysts.
Define company data assets (data models), spark, spark SQL, and hive SQL jobs to populate data models.
Design and evaluate open source and vendor tools for data lineage.
Work closely with all business units and engineering teams to develop strategy for long term data platform architecture.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
6+ years of experience in a Big Data and Python development role.
Proven track record of success in handling large-scale data projects.

Soft Skills:
Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.
Ability to work in a team in a diverse/ multiple stakeholder environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proactive, independent problem-solving and research skills.
Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands.

Must-have Skills:

Primary:
Proficiency in Python with strong experience in pandas is mandatory. In-depth knowledge of Hadoop is essential.

Secondary:
SQL expertise is required.

Candidates with knowledge of AWS but not specifically of S3, EMR, Glue, Athena are encouraged to discuss their experience as training or upskilling can be provided.
