Role purpose
The purpose of the CCO function is to enable colleagues within HSBC Digital Business Services (DBS) to deliver safe and secure services to all our customers, colleagues and the Bank itself. This will be achieved by:
Enforcing robust risk governance and ensuring all stakeholders have visibility of key risks and any remediation activity. Partnering and advising on setting, communicating and monitoring risk appetite in line with business requirements, including appropriate support and challenge. Overseeing the holistic end-to-end health of the control environment Conducting high quality and efficient reviews of control performance. Facilitating controls remediation where required. Raising awareness and understanding of risks, controls and risk management. Continuously improving the control and monitoring of risk, including behaviours. Embedding the bank's Risk Management FrameworkThe purpose of the role is to:
Support, advise and challenge key stakeholders from Global Payment Solutions (GPS) Operations across the globe to ensure the risks in the domain are understood and well controlled. Effective partnerships with GPS Product, Technology and Operations Stakeholders for end-to-end delivery of Risk and Control management practices Execute on requirements relevant to embedding and facilitating the Wholesale and GPS Value and Sub Value stream construct by building and designing effective Objective and Key Results (OKRs) relevant to risk and control management. Lead the Control Environment management forums across GPS Ops ExCo to deliver on best in class first line risk and control management Analyse the performance of the control environment, perform end to end reviews, deep dive thematic reviews to identify weaknesses and designing new or modified controls to remediate these weaknesses. Provide expert advice to the GPS Ops Exco on Risk and Control Management. Lead the engagement with Line of Businesses, Second line of defence, Internal Audit and External Auditors, including Regulatory oversight for GPS Ops. Ensure that this target state is aligned with the strategic goals of Bankwide Operational Transformation and is consistent with the goals of Non-Financial Risk Optimisation and all other relevant initiatives (including operational resilience). Risk & Control oversight of critical Business led programmes including, but not limited to, ISO 20022, CHAPS, SEPA, Faster payments etc impacting GPS Ops. Instigate and manage initiatives to drive improvements to the Operations control environment including the effective design of material controls.What you'll do:
Seeks out opportunities to continuously drive improvements in the overall experience delivered to customers Collaborate effectively, being accountable for CCO relationship management with all lines of Business, DBS and MSS Operations and other partnering functions. Provide expert risk and control advice, anticipate and mitigate emerging risks to Operations and Global Business partners. Lead the implementation and / or delivery of initiatives around non-financial risk framework for GPS operations. Considering impacts to Financial risks (where applicable) Accountable for delivering best in class service within the CCOO budget, including timely delivery of all initiatives in order to meet cost and headcount targets Work closely with Business Service global stewards to ensure alignment to global strategy, policies, frameworks and standards Lead internal trigger event and thematic controls, risk reviews for impacts towards Bank's Financial, Customer, or regulatory requirements Bank-wide Transformation Initiatives specifically focused on mitigating material risks to the Bank. Partnerships with Line of Business transformation initiatives, including but not limited to GPS Accelerate and Value stream deliveries.Leadership & Teamwork
Lead a global team to share and implement best practice and improve performance using global and external benchmarking Identify and analyse industry trends for emerging risks, horizon scanning to frame the CCO strategy accordingly Is accountable for the organisation design blueprint, succession planning, performance management and recruitment in CCO GPS Operations Risk culture penetration to all levels in GPS Ops though role modeling behaviors Authentically engage a diverse group of senior stakeholders across 1LOD to 3LOD and deliver at pace. Make considered decisions that protect and enhance HSBC values, reputation and business. Drive a strong risk culture and role model desired behaviours. Leading the design of effective KRIs and KCIs for proactive risk management RequirementsWhat you will need to succeed in the role:
Understanding of the Global Payment Services business strategies covering for Payments, Reconciliations, Cheques Operations, Screening & Client Implementation and Servicing. Functional understanding of Payment flows within HSBC covering key systems and platforms Extensive knowledge of operational risk management and control frameworks Experience of driving large scale risk & control implementation journey, transformation with proven track record of successful delivery Control design and process reengineering experience is desired Strong relationship management skills with an ability to influence a range of stakeholders with differing priorities Strong People leader / positive role model with strong evidence of resilience knowledge of best practice in risk management Extensive knowledge of Operations is desired Experience of strategy development and target state design Ability to present complex issues confidently and concisely to Senior Executives Group Executives, Non-Executives and Regulators, using simple language and accommodating globally distributed stakeholders. Ability to distil varied information into useful, insightful and concise recommendations. Outstanding relationship management, collaboration and influencing skills with experience of positive, challenging interactions with senior executives.You'll achieve more at HSBC
