Position Summary

The Teaching Assistant engages with students and teachers to provide instructional and administrative support. The role focuses on delivering differentiated instructional and social/emotional scaffolds to students to maximize their learning experience.

This role is instrumental in supporting the educational objectives of the classroom by providing targeted instruction and fostering a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

Supporting Student Learning and Wellbeing:

  • Deliver instructional support and individualized attention to students under teacher direction.
  • Teach students in small and large groups.
  • Foster positive relationships with students to promote their social and emotional wellbeing.
  • Conduct diagnostic and progress monitoring assessments of students.
  • Assist in implementing behavior management strategies to maintain a conducive learning environment.
  • Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, and breaks, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Report discipline problems to the Teacher or Principal.

Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with the gradelevel team.
  • Participate in planning and conducting parent conferences
  • Assist teachers in lesson planning and preparation.
  • Communicate effectively with the teacher to provide feedback on student performance and progress.

Organizational and Administrative:

  • Organize, stock, and prepare instructional materials.
  • Display classroom learning.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as recordkeeping and attendance

Substitution:

  • Substitutes for the teacher during their absence.

Professional Learning:

  • Attend divisional, all school, and team meetings as required.
  • Engage in curricular and pedagogical professional development opportunities on and off campus.
  • Embrace the diversity of ASB, Mumbai, and India, moving beyond the classroom walls and encouraging students to maximize their impact on the community.
  • Learn and provide training on the use of various digital tools.
Other unforeseen jobs as assigned

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited program with a teaching credential.
  • At least three years of relevant teaching experience in a K12 accredited school.
  • Knowledge of developmental needs of learners in the elementary grades
  • Experience in a Pre-K 12 School, PYP / inquirybased learning preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills promoting collegial interaction and collaboration
