Overview:
You will play a pivotal role in educating staff, pet owners, and communities about responsible pet care practices.

Your primary focus will be on training staff and shelter animals, pet owners, and community members on various aspects of pet care, including nutrition, grooming, basic healthcare, and behavioral training.

This role is instrumental in promoting animal welfare and fostering healthy relationships between pets and their owners.

Responsibilities:


Pet Care Education-Develop and deliver educational programs, workshops, and seminars on responsible pet ownership, covering topics such as nutrition, exercise, grooming, and basic healthcare.

Behavioral Training-Provide guidance and training to staff and pet owners on positive reinforcement techniques to address common behavioral issues in pets, such as aggression, anxiety, and disobedience.

Community Outreach-Collaborate with local communities, schools, and organizations to raise awareness about the importance of proper pet care and the benefits of human-animal interactions.

Shelter Support-Offer support and training to staff and volunteers to ensure proper care and handling of animals.
Resource Development-Create educational materials, including brochures, pamphlets, and online resources, to supplement training programs and outreach efforts.

Consultation Services-Provide personalized consultations to pet owners, addressing their specific concerns and offering practical solutions to improve the well-being of their pets.

Collaboration-Work closely with veterinarians, animal behaviorists, and other professionals to enhance the effectiveness of pet care training programs and initiatives.

Monitoring and Evaluation-Implement systems to track the impact of educational interventions, gather feedback from participants, and continually improve program delivery.

Performing other related duties as required to support the operation of the animal shelter and the welfare of its residents.


Knowledge of:
Proficiency in computer skills, including word processing, email, and presentation software.
Familiarity with typical office protocols, methods, and equipment.
Knowledge of safety protocols and adherence to safe working procedures.
Skill in maintaining precise record-keeping.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in veterinary science, animal behavior, education, or related field (preferred).

Required Background, Experience and Skills:
Total 10+ years of experience in pet care, animal training, or education, particularly in community outreach setting.
Extensive experience (5+ years) in pet behavior research and analysis.

Comprehensive knowledge and expertise (5+ years) in various aspects of pet care, including nutrition, grooming, exercise regimens, and health maintenance.

Strong background (4+ years) in animal training techniques, including positive reinforcement methods and behavior modification strategies.
Demonstrated proficiency in handling a variety of domestic animals, including dogs, cats, birds, and small mammals.
Certification or accreditation in animal behavior or pet care training is preferred.
Knowledge of animal behavior principles, positive reinforcement techniques, and best practices in pet care.
Previous experience working in an animal shelter or rescue organization is desirable but not required.
