Our Clinical Research team, who powers our PPD clinical research portfolio, are part of our leading global contract research organization (CRO).


Our multidisciplinary Modeling and Simulation experts design and implement health economic models that describe complex medical processes to understand and evaluate the implications of clinical trials; demonstrate the value of interventions beyond efficacy, and assess benefits, risks, and the economic consequences associated with healthcare interventions.

Position Overview

  • Contributes to model design and implements simulation models (e.g., discrete event simulation) and other decisionanalytic models (e.g., Markov, individual statetransition, survival partition) to assess the costeffectiveness of healthcare interventions.
  • Assist with scientific aspects and development of submission reports to health technology assessment bodies.
  • Assist with financial project management, and monitoring progress for projects when assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Scientific:
Conducts one or more of the following, under supervision:

  • Contribute to design of health economic models to conduct cost-effectiveness and budget impact analyses of healthcare interventions
  • Program models using Microsoft Excel with Visual Basic for Applications
  • Performs model validation
  • Conduct analyses and presentation of results
  • Implement statistical analyses in health economic models (e.g., descriptive statistics and regression analysis

Project Management:
Implements research/project tasks and monitors project team

  • Responsible for daytoday client contact, as assigned
  • Delegates to junior staff on project tasks
  • Responsible for monitoring project progress (timeline and budget), communications with Finance, and supervises project team. Regularly keeps the project PI informed
  • Competent in navigating the project management systems (electronic and paper filing, SOP requirements, Finance office practices, etc.) and implements as required

Other Duties:

  • Supports proposal preparation with oversight
  • Participates in staff recruitment efforts (interviewing, attending presentations, etc.)
  • Conforms to SOPs and other training requirements
  • Fulfills the tasks associated with the role of supervisor
  • May assist in training of junior staff
Education and Experience

Master's degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Health Economics. Master's degree or Doctorate/ PhD in other fields will be considered (e.g., Statistics Mathematics, Economics, Epidemiology). Relevant experience of 3+ years in developing economic models.

Advanced knowledge of research methods

  • Proficient with modelling project implementation
  • Excellent computer skills [Microsoft Office]
  • Strong quantitative skills, with intermediate knowledge of biostatistics [survival and regression analyses]
  • Experience managing project teams and financial management
  • Energy, a great work attitude and fit well with our team
  • Experience in training junior staff members
Strong organization skills Language Skills

Excellent written and spoken English. Additional languages are a plus

Computer Skills

Required:
Excel and VBA expertise, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint

Desired:
