We arelooking for a skilled Welder to cut and joinmetals and other materials at our facilities or construction sites.You will operate appropriate equipment to put together mechanicalstructures or parts with a great deal of precision. Your job isimportant as it provides the foundation for stronginfrastructure.
A welder must be competent inusing potentially dangerous equipment following all safetyprecautions. The ideal candidate will also have a steady hand andgreat attention to detail. Knowledge of different kinds of metaland their properties is essential.
Responsibilities- Read blueprints and drawings and take or readmeasurements to plan layout and procedures
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment or methodbased on requirements
- Set up components forwelding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with poweredsaws to match measurements)
- Operate anglegrinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
- Align components using calipers rulers etc. and clamppieces
- Weld components using manual orsemiautomatic welding equipment in various positions (verticalhorizontal or overhead)
- Repair machinery andother components by welding pieces and filling gaps
- Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure todiscover flaws
- Maintain equipment in acondition that does not compromise safety
- Proven experience aswelder
- Experience using a variety of weldingequipment and procedures (TIG MMA etc.)
- Experience in using electrical or manual tools (sawssquares calipers etc.)
- Ability to read andinterpret technical documents and drawings
- Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness touse protective clothing (faceshield gloves etc.)
- Deftness and attention to detail
- Proficient in English
- Successfulcompletion of a relevant apprenticeship program isrequired
- Professional Certification (e.g. anAWS welding certificate) will be a plus
