The MySQL Global Business Unit is experiencing unprecedented growth, and is an integral part of Oracle's Global Software Practice.MySQL is the world's most popular open source database. According to DB-Engines, MySQL ranks as the second-most-popular database, behind Oracle Database.
MySQL powers many of the most accessed applications, including Facebook, Twitter, Netflix, Uber, Airbnb, Shopify, and .Since MySQL is open source, it includes numerous features developed in close cooperation with users over more than 25 years.
So it's very likely that your favorite application or programming language is supported by MySQL Database.
DescriptionWhat You'll DoA Solution Engineer (SE) at MySQL is responsible for providing pre-sales technical support as an integral part of the revenue generation activities in a territory consisting of one or more of: OEM, ISV, Enterprise accounts and Web-Property businesses.
An SE is both pre-sales technical support and a product evangelist for MySQL. The position requires public speaking, technical problem solving, and the ability to communicate with programmers, DBAs, and managers.
The SE role reports to the Manager of MySQL Solution Engineering in the Global Business Unit.
Support achievement of sales monthly, quarterly and annual revenue objectives.
Manage the technical element of selected customer/business partner sales cycles.
Work with the Sales Executive to construct opportunity plans and TCO propositions.
Reduce/eliminate technical obstacles to winning the technical recommendation.
Provide proof/reference points that proposed solutions are architecturally sound, and operationally manageable for the customer.
Provide Technical Account Management to key customers.
Provide regular feedback to MySQL Marketing and Engineering on win/loss information.
Work with selected MySQL Business Partners (Alliance, Reseller and SI Partners) to ensure their success.
Work closely with MySQL Professional Services to reach services revenue goals and ensure customer satisfaction.
Contribute to User Group Events when appropriate.
Work with MySQL Marketing to conduct seminars, webinars, assist with trade shows, and other marketing related events in territory.
Required Skills/ExperienceWhat You'll BringExperience working with MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, AWS databases other Cloud databases.
MBA or master's highly desired; working knowledge of database administration, software development practices and data center / infrastructure / networking technologies highly desired.
Experience working and traveling independently.Experience with public speaking / conferences /meetups.
Computer Science or Engineering preferred.
