Technician - Pipe Fitting

Responsible for maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting, and installing pipes and fittings for naval ships as assigned by the Foreman.

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, install, and test pipes and fittings with expertise in various types and schedules of pipes.
  • Conduct and document pipeline pressure inspections to ensure equipment fitness.
  • Adhere to systems and procedures for respective trades to meet authorized requirements in daytoday operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Diploma/Technical Certificate from an approved shipbuilding apprenticeship program in Mechanical/Pipe Fitting or graduate of mechanical engineering.

Minimum Experience:

  • 3 years in military shipbuilding with specialization in mechanical and piping works.

Job Specifications & Skills:

  • Knowledge of ships, including performance, stability, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with shipbuilding materials and piping systems, including fabrication, installation, removal, and reassembly.
  • Understanding of piping codes and standards.
  • Proficiency in mechanical systems, such as hydraulic equipment, main engine, pumps, generators installation, alignment, and propeller systems.
  • Knowledge in shipbuilding maintenance.
  • Ability to read and comprehend mechanical and electrical drawings and technical manuals.
  • Familiarity with shipboard machinery, equipment, piping systems, propulsion systems, electrical systems, and navigation systems.

Experience:

  • Marine: 2 years (required)
