  • Implementation of hospital's vision & philosophy.
  • To maintain highest standards in infection control & waste management
  • To coordinate all the activities & processes for the smooth functioning of above mentioned critical area.
  • Awareness of patients rights & safety issues, relationship building.
  • To ensure all the emergency medicines & the equipments are available.
  • Coordinate the allocated departments for management of technician and nursing care activities.
  • Would be responsible for all audits & would answer all their queries.
  • Prepares dialysate according to established procedures and the dialysis prescription
  • Assembles and prepares the dialysis extracorporeal circuit according to protocol and dialysis prescription.
  • Tests monitors and machine functions, including alarms, conductivity and temperature. Sets monitors and alarms according to unit and manufacturer protocols.
  • Obtains and documents predialysis vital signs, weight, and temperature.
  • Inspects a patient's dialysis access. Administers local anesthesia, inserts needles, and initiates dialysis according to unit protocol and patient prescription.
  • Administers anticoagulant according to unit protocols and prescription.
  • Monitors patients and equipment, responds to alarms, and readjusts treatment parameters as defined by established protocols and individual patient requirements.
  • Discontinues dialysis following unit protocol.
  • Obtains and records postdialysis vital signs, temperature, and weight.
  • Discards dialysis supplies and sanitizes equipment according to manufacturer and unit protocol.
  • Wash dialyzer and reprocessing.
  • Dialysis technicians are responsible for operating the machines that do this
  • Monitoring the patients undergoing treatment.
  • Maintain record and reports.
  • Promotes and maintains a good working relationship among nursing personnel, medical staff, other hospital employees, patients and public.
  • Ensures customerfriendly service is promoted to the staff through role modeling
  • Inventory management, In addition to that to ensure systems to avoid wastages/pilferages/thefts etc.
  • To ensure departmental SOP's be implemented.
  • To help in day to day operations.
  • To participate in the in service education programmes.
  • Ensure proper functioning of all the equipment and instruments and coordinates with engineering/biomedical/appropriate department for malfunctioning/repair/replacement/loss/theft/indents
  • To ensure all the registers are maintained at the unit.
  • Quality and timeliness of the administration of patient care.
  • Implementation of service excellence programme.
  • Handling of grievances of patients & the internal staff.


Dialysis technicians function in multiple roles, which include dialyzer reprocessing, equipment maintenance and repair, water treatment monitoring, participation in quality improvement, vascular access monitoring and direct patient care.
