What You'll Do
As a member of BCG's X team, you will collaborate closely with consulting teams on a wide array of advanced analytics and engineering subjects. You will get the chance to utilize analytical methodologies to bring value to BCG's Consulting teams and Practice Areas by offering analytical and engineering expertise. As a Data Engineer, your role will be pivotal in devising, creating, and sustaining data pipelines, systems, and solutions that empower our clients to make informed business choices. You will work in close cooperation with cross-functional teams, encompassing data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders, to deliver top-notch data solutions that fulfill our clients' requirements.YOU'RE GOOD AT
- Delivering unique analysis and insights to case teams, often taking ownership of an analytics section while integrating with a case team.
- Designing, developing, and managing efficient and robust data pipelines for extracting, transforming, and loading data from various sources to data warehouses, data lakes, and other storage solutions.
- Constructing data-intensive solutions that are highly available, scalable, reliable, secure, and cost-effective using programming languages like Python and PySpark.
- Possessing deep proficiency in Big Data querying and analysis tools, such as PySpark, Hive, Snowflake, and Databricks.
- Holding broad expertise in at least one Cloud platform like AWS/GCP/Azure.
- Having a working knowledge of automation and deployment tools like Airflow, Jenkins, and GitHub Actions, as well as infrastructure-as-code technologies like Terraform and CloudFormation.
- Demonstrating a good understanding of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, orchestration, and containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Acquiring a basic understanding of Machine Learning methodologies and pipelines.
- Communicating analytical insights through sophisticated synthesis and packaging of results with consultants, collecting, synthesizing, and analyzing case team learning & inputs into new best practices and methodologies.
Thinking Analytically
- Strong analytical solutioning skills with hands-on experience in advanced analytics delivery throughout the entire analytics life cycle.
- Robust analytics skills with the capability to develop and codify knowledge and offer analytical guidance when needed.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's / Master's degree in computer science engineering/technology
- 2-4 years of experience in the Data Engineering domain across multiple industries, providing analytics solutions in a business environment.
- Consulting experience is a bonus.
- Proficiency in distributed computing principles, including the management of Spark clusters, with various implementations of Spark preferred.
- Basic hands-on experience with Data engineering tasks such as productizing data pipelines, building CI/CD pipelines, code orchestration using tools like Airflow, DevOps, etc.
- Knowledge of software engineering concepts and best practices, like API design and development, testing frameworks, packaging, etc.
- Experience with NoSQL databases such as HBase, Cassandra, MongoDB.
- Understanding of web development technologies.
- Familiarity with different stages of machine learning system design and development.
