Job Summary: The Computer Lab In-Charge is responsible for the overall management, supervision, and maintenance of a computer lab in an educational institution or organization. This role involves ensuring that the lab operates efficiently, providing technical support to users, and maintaining the security and integrity of the computer systems and network.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lab Management:
   • Oversee the daily operations of the computer lab.
     
   • Ensure the lab is open and accessible to users during designated hours.
     
   • Maintain a schedule for lab usage and manage reservations.
     
2. Technical Support:
   • Provide technical assistance to students, faculty, and staff using the lab.
     
   • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues promptly.
     
   • Install, configure, and update software and hardware as needed.
     
3. Maintenance:
   • Ensure all computer systems and peripherals are in good working condition.
     
   • Perform regular maintenance and updates on all lab equipment.
     
   • Keep an inventory of lab equipment and manage any repairs or replacements.
     
4. Network and Security:
   • Monitor network performance and security within the lab.
     
   • Implement and enforce policies for network security and data protection.
     
   • Ensure proper access control measures are in place.
     
5. User Training and Support:
   • Conduct orientations and training sessions for new users on lab policies and software.
     
   • Create and update user manuals and documentation.
     
   • Assist users with specialized software and applications.
     
6. Administrative Duties:
   • Maintain records of lab usage and user feedback.
     
   • Prepare reports on lab activities and performance for management.
     
   • Manage the lab budget and procure necessary supplies and equipment.
     
7. Compliance and Safety:
   • Ensure the lab complies with all relevant safety and regulatory requirements.
     
   • Implement and maintain safety protocols for users and equipment.
     
8. Collaboration:
   • Work with faculty and staff to support academic and research activities.
     
   • Collaborate with IT departments to align lab resources with institutional goals.
     
   • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to policy development.
     

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  
• Experience: At least 2-3 years of experience in a technical support role or managing a computer lab.
  
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating systems (Windows, Mac, Linux), networking, and common software applications. Knowledge of hardware maintenance and troubleshooting.
  
• Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a customer-service oriented attitude.
  
• Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar) are a plus.
  

Working Conditions:
